Hideo Itami is returning....sometime.... and he will eventually be up on the main roster... from what i've read... maybe very soon... so.. after a couple years.. of sporadic matches and injuries do you think the fans still have that excitement they had about him when he was first signed? or... have the AJ Styles/Samoa Joe/Bobby Roode/Shinsuke/Balor all passed him by?

Dude needs to be put on 205 Live or something.
NXT Live Events are going to end his career before it begins. He's like DBry, he only knows one speed and if they keep making him do those NXT live events against low level NXT guys that are green his career will end in the WWE before it ever really began.

Itami's injuries coupled with the arrival of Shinsuke really put a damper on his chances, to be honest. He's going to have to spend quite a bit more time in NXT, given that he never really got great exposure there. Beyond that, I don't see him doing much outside of the Cruiserweight division at this point.

If he's a great wrestler fans would get behind him.

He still seems like a WWE rookie to me due to his limited exposure so far, so I would be pretty excited to see a lengthy NXT run before joining the main roster.

He'll never rebound from that injury

When you consider that he was in the ATGMBR at WM31, had he not been injured he could have been tearing it up on the main roster for two years already by this point. We could even have seen a match with Danielson before he had to retire.

i'm actually guessing he comes back on 205 live and his debut will precipitate.... Austin Aries Debut... when he attacks Itami in his match coming from the announcers table....

I haven't really bought in. dude has been injured longer than his nxt career, wouldn't be surprised if he was let go during their next clear out.

If he can stay healthy long enough to get some traction for his NXT career then maybe fans will get behind him again.

It's possible, but this will be his last chance. He came in with huge momentum, got hurt, came back and they made a big deal about it again...got hurt again.
If it happens again, I think he's toast.

I say just bring him back straight to the main roster on 205 live.

KENTA was pretty much the start of the current "big everywhere but the WWE" hiring practices of NXT, and then he wasn't able to make any impact whatsoever. He got injured, and then injured again when he was getting a second chance. I think even if he stays healthy, it'll be a long time before officials trust him. That's not even accounting if fans will care. I can't say I've been impressed with his transition to the WWE style thus far
