Today we lost Ivan Koloff. A man that ended Bruno's first WWWF Title reign, and has held multiple titles around the world, and he never made it into the WWE Hall of Fame yet.
The WWE is so worried each year in making their Hall of Fame a entertaining show to rake in large amounts of money from the fans, but having certain wrestlers getting into the HOF, while others have to sit out each year - even though they damn well deserve a spot.
It just bugs me that some one like Ivan, and guys like Randy Savage, and possibly soon to be Vader, won't or didn't get a chance to be there live and speak about their career, all because the WWE had to put in some famous person for the celebrity inductee, or someone some what famous now for the Warrior Award thing they got going on.
I have said it for years that the WWE Hall of Fame isn't a real thing. That it's just a show they do on the Wrestlemania weekend to make that weekend seem bigger than it already is for the fans. And this pretty much proves it now.
It's too bad that Ivan never got in while being alive, I am sure five years from now someone at the WWE office will remember Ivan and say, "oh yeah, he can go in this year for our deceased inductee entrant."

Yeah the WWE fan of today basically opens their mouth and lets WWE take a dump in it, they swallow and enjoy. "Omg Lol Teddy longs in the hall of fame hola holla!!! Lulz!!!" Isn't Snoop Dogg in the hall of fame too? Someone told me Trump was in it also but I hope he was kidding. I'm not sure. Like when I read fans of TNA saying this weeks episode of impact was "amazing and hilarious".
I think the modern wrestling fan is like a mushroom. Kept in the dark and fed a lot of crap. But they LOVE it. I just don't get it. I go on reddit and see the fans talking about how impactful, amazing, etc, teddy long was....oh really? Yes...he has worked his butt off for wrestling as a whole. So have thousands of others. Teddy got lucky, landed a manager spot, and now he's HOF worthy?
But yeah the HOF is a complete joke. To be inducted in the HOF is meaningless.

As for modern fans, they can talk all they want. I mean damn, I have met wrestling fans outside of here who never saw any of Steve Austin's work in WCW. Shame Ivan Koloff won't ever go in alive.

Warrior made it by a couple days. If they would of waited another year, it would of been a Macho Man situation.

I think people care too much about it. Fans obviously take much more notice than the WWE. Like it or not, it's a side attraction for WrestleMania weekend. I honestly don't let it bother me.

Ivan Koloff was always a HOFer in my eyes. I don't need an announcement by WWE.

the wwe hall of fame has never meant anything. it's more a figurative wwe slap on the back.
it's more fans that get confused. i still like to see legends recognized though.

You can still be a wrestling fan without ever seeing a certain wrestler's work. And that is a very specific case you picked. I have been a wrestling fan since 2001. I have watched matches took place prior to 2001 obviously, but I am someone that has never seen a match of Austin's in WCW. I have tried watching WCW matches multiple times and I do not enjoy them. It is like saying that you cannot be a Batman fan without reading all of his comics. It doesn't work like that. You can't tell a new wrestling fan that they cannot be a wrestling fan since they are solely a fan of the new product.

Owen Bulldog Koloff Vader DDP William Regal Christian Jim Cornette Where are they? You cannot put every single person in every year. The WWE is a business unlike MLB. They need to make money from this. And some of your choices are relatively young. Christian has time. What is the rush there? Jim Cornette craps on them all the time. And DDP is not your best example...

WWE isn't supposed to be the be all end all hall of fame for pro wrestling
It's them honoring people they have good business relations with
Vince has hated Ivan the past 20 years
Why has this been so hard for people to understand?

Owen Bulldog Koloff Vader DDP William Regal Christian Jim Cornette Where are they? You do know that they can't induct someone without their estate's consent? And that WWE has tried to get business with Martha Hart multiple times

Koloff was part of the recent concussion lawsuit and to my knowledge, hasn't been involve with WWE since 1983. He also was only inducted into the Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in 2011 and The Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame in 2015. He's not in the Cauliflower Alley Club either.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you have said. So many deserving wrestlers aren't living to see their HOF inductions despite doing so much for the business over the years.
Look at Vader. So far no sign of an induction despite it being public knowledge from November that he has not long left and to be truthful if he doesn't get inducted it will prove just how big of a farce the HOF is because the WWE will have ignored a dying man who deserved see himself get inducted.

People are the same way about music. Like who cares where you heard such and such from if you like it? People are much more open to suggestions from the past if youre not a hipster snob about it.

Probably one of the worst stints in his career.
