The WWE Hall of Fame is a joke, but no wrestling hall of fame is perfect. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame is often seen as the standard for what a pro wrestling HOF should be, but Sting wasnt voted in there until 2016. This HOF probably is perfect. www.pwhf.org

Today we lost Ivan Koloff. A man that ended Bruno's first WWWF Title reign, and has held multiple titles around the world, and he never made it into the WWE Hall of Fame yet. The WWE is so worried each year in making their Hall of Fame a entertaining show to rake in large amounts of money from the fans, but having certain wrestlers getting into the HOF, while others have to sit out each year - even though they damn well deserve a spot. It just bugs me that some one like Ivan, and guys like Randy Savage, and possibly soon to be Vader, won't or didn't get a chance to be there live and speak about their career, all because the WWE had to put in some famous person for the celebrity inductee, or someone some what famous now for the Warrior Award thing they got going on. I have said it for years that the WWE Hall of Fame isn't a real thing. That it's just a show they do on the Wrestlemania weekend to make that weekend seem bigger than it already is for the fans. And this pretty much proves it now. It's too bad that Ivan never got in while being alive, I am sure five years from now someone at the WWE office will remember Ivan and say, "oh yeah, he can go in this year for our deceased inductee entrant." I said this on another forum. WWE started to correct the issue of missing legends from the HOF last year by introducing a legacy section. Which allowed them to induct lesser known wrestlers into the Hall faster. Here was the 2016 class. Your rant pretty much proves nothing. WWE recognized the issue and have made steps to correct it.

WWE isn't supposed to be the be all end all hall of fame for pro wrestling It's them honoring people they have good business relations with Vince has hated Ivan the past 20 years Why has this been so hard for people to understand? This. And I much prefer them honoring recognizeable characters that actually can give a good speech rather than somebody who was famous 140 years ago. Is that disrespectful to say? Probably. But I pay to be entertained, and I would not be entertained by some of the speeches of the types of wrestlers some fans want in there. I almost fell asleep during Bruno's speech and I was there, on row 1... But then a speech like Booker T, Mick Foley or Trish Stratus gave me plenty of good laughs and good memories of their careers going through my head. I might be the only one, though.

Here's the thing with Savage and it also counts with Somr other guys. Nobody knew he was going to die. And honestly if you look back at I think 2010 may have been the start, WWE had released the Macho Man DVD, then came the Macho Man Mattel figures, and then he was the spokesman for the WWE All Stars game. Obviously the fence between WWE and Savage had been mended and he most likely would have headed the 2012 HOF but sadly he suffered a heart attack and died in a car crash, which nobody saw coming. And then it to longer for him to get cause his brother kept claiming Savage said he'd only go in if his family went in.
Just like Warrior, WWE got lucky when they inducted him. Nobody saw his death coming. He even signed a contract to be an ambassador for WWE so even he didn't know he was about to die.
We still have a few HOF announcements left so we don't know if they have Vader in the lineup or not.

Just induct everyone that's ever appeared in wrestling right now, incase anyone dies.

they cant induct every wrestler all at once, the whole thing one and done would be ridiculous. no sport does that anyway. and just because ________ isn't already in the hall doesn't make it a joke either. they've been doing the HOF for years, but they didn't start doing this big spectacle/show/selling out an arena/inducting 8 people until 2004. before that it was a handful of guys in the 90's but i highly doubt they knew what they were getting into back then with it. not to mention this is the WWE hall of fame...not a wrestling hall of fame. on the list of guys that would come to mind as being "hall of fame" worthy....i think ivan koloff is pretty far down. not really sure why he's the breaker for the seriousness of the hall. and on top of that, there are just gonna be guys who vince flat out doesnt like and is not going to honor them with a nice ring or watch or whatever plus the spotlight. I agree with this. Id rathee they spread out the big names. And also, i dont mind that people who mostly worked else where than WWE are in the HOF since WWE owns pretty much every major territory archive out there. To each its own.

I will take the Hall of Fame seriously once they build an actual physical site where people can visit!

His last speech he addressed to the fans in the ring was very chilling

PWHF has an actual building that features wrestling memorabilia donated by wrestlers or on loan from private collections. Also, the selection committee is made up of former wrestlers as well as others from the industry. They have created various categories and each year they induct 1 or 2 people from each of the categories.

I look at the WWE Hall of Fame as a mixture between a roast & shoot interview. Its an entertaining way to hear some guys stories as well as others stories about people. To me though if Im going to refer to someone as a HOFer though, they're a member of the Pro Wrestling HOF not the WWE.

Yeah the WWE fan of today basically opens their mouth and lets WWE take a dump in it, they swallow and enjoy. "Omg Lol Teddy longs in the hall of fame hola holla!!! Lulz!!!" Isn't Snoop Dogg in the hall of fame too? Someone told me Trump was in it also but I hope he was kidding. I'm not sure. Like when I read fans of TNA saying this weeks episode of impact was "amazing and hilarious". I think the modern wrestling fan is like a mushroom. Kept in the dark and fed a lot of crap. But they LOVE it. I just don't get it. I go on reddit and see the fans talking about how impactful, amazing, etc, teddy long was....oh really? Yes...he has worked his butt off for wrestling as a whole. So have thousands of others. Teddy got lucky, landed a manager spot, and now he's HOF worthy? But yeah the HOF is a complete joke. To be inducted in the HOF is meaningless. Kevin Sullivan brought this up on the MSL & Sullivan show that he was the one who opened the door to Teddy Long being a manager. As for modern fans, they can talk all they want. I mean damn, I have met wrestling fans outside of here who never saw any of Steve Austin's work in WCW. Shame Ivan Koloff won't ever go in alive. I've never seen Steve Austin's work in WCW, and I've been watching wrestling for damn near 20 years. Different strokes for different folks, I don't feel any reason to go back and watch older stuff. It all seems very dated to me. Doesn't make me a worse or better fan, it's just the way I take it in. The name "Ivan Koloff" means very little to me. I always mix him and Nikolai Volkoff up to be honest. He was a big deal at the time but has his name really withstood the test of time? Maybe that's because WWE doesn't want it to, but the thought remains.

Its basically turned into a participation award show at this point. There just isn't many big stars left to induct. Especially ones who are still alive.

I've said it many times before and I will say it again, the wwe hall of fame ceremony is a cool and nostalgic event(I went to 2013 at the Garden and it was awesome), but us smart fans shouldn't take it seriously anymore as to who goes in and who doesn't. I mean does it really matter who is in a hall of fame with such luminaries like Koko B Ware, Rikishi, The Bushwackers, Snoop Dog, Drew Carey, and Vince's limo driver? Also I've come to the conclusion that their HOF is not the elite of the elite. Just entertaining characters and people who are on good terms with them that year. It is what it is. On a side note, Hillbilly Jim told me that he told his kids not to accept an invitation to the HOF if they decide to induct him after he passes.

Agree totally mate - especially about the celebrity wing section. I mean take Snoop Dogg for example, don't get me wrong I have nothing against the guy, and I have the upmost respect for what he has accomplished in the rap world - but what did this guy do to deserve a spot in the WWE hall of fame? .......... what because he has appeared on about 2 episodes of Monday night RAW in the past... as a guest host?.... that's laughable.

I look at it like this... There are inductees I don't agree with. There are people I wish were included that aren't. But when I hear someone like DDP saying they had tears of joy running down his face when he got the call, I refuse to call it a "joke". It means something to them.

I think people that get worked up about the Hall of Fame selections take wrestling a bit too seriously. Look at what it was when it started, to what it is now. I think it's great. You can't just induct everyone in one year. The celebrities have their place. Some of the lower card guys have their place too. Take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy it for what it is.
