The new ring looks pretty damn good and the Goldberg is a bonus imo.

Might buy the ring anyway, but it's a modern Goldberg. Definitely would've bought a flashback in his WWE half black half white trunks (probably the closest you can get to an interesting Goldberg attire) or WCW. Hopefully we get both.

I think it's a decent idea if it's $80 msrp, last time they got burned on the ESR, so Goldberg's there to prop it up. I've got a bad feeling it'll be $100 though, I hope it sells well enough to make a Smackdown set with 2000 HHH or Wrestlemania 12 w/ Warrior, or something along those lines. I still can't believe I can buy a plastic lawn chair for $10, which uses 4 times more plastic and way more shelf space, but a wrestling ring costs HOW much? 80 to 100 bucks? What even is this A whole number of reasons: The cost for Mattel licensing the WWE name, trademarks and licenses. A wrestling toy is a niche item compared to a lawn chair, so many lawn chairs are made that it drives the price down. With a niche item it is a seller's market, the everyday item is more of a buyers market. How many million more lawn chairs are made a year than wrestling rings? I assume the difference in numbers is massive. Packaging: A lawn chair has what? A bar code glued on it. The ring will have a full colour box...So additional cost. The ring has a number of moulds/molds. The ring. Posts. Turnbuckles and ropes. Add decals, instructions and with this one a figure and it is a lot more complex and expensive to make than the lawn chair. Markup/ profit margin: The profit margin on the item...I assume Mattel are making a nice mark up on each ring compared to the lawn chair. Again this is "luxury" items compared to more everyday items. There are probably a fair few more reasons that I am unaware of.

What even is this I know man, it's crazy. Then again, the production run is much smaller and WWE has to get a cut too, I'm sure the mark up on those things is still massive though. I think it's a decent idea if it's $80 msrp, last time they got burned on the ESR, so Goldberg's there to prop it up. There's no way it can be as cheap as $80, over here the scale ring by WCT originally was like £90! So one made by an actual decent toy maker is going to be more, throw in a 1st time Elite Goldberg and I'm sure you'll be talking $100. Expect to see this clogging the bottom shelf for a while You're probably right, I was thinking a slightly smaller ring, no metal parts, cheap LED lights, might lead to a more reasonable price, but then I remember the $40 Kmart accessory exclusives, and $100 sounds more like the minimum.

Shocked to find that people even wanted this figure. Not seeing what the big deal is. Its not like WCW or WWE (03-04) Goldberg are packed with the ring. This version of him couldn't have been that highly desired.

It absolutely will be. What an incredibly stupid decision by Mattel. Get ready to see about a million of those rings at Wal Mart with Jakks RA and WCW Toybiz Goldberg figures packaged with it. You gotta love Mattel coming up with creative ways to screw their customers over by jacking up the price of first-time releases of majorly-wanted figures like Nakamura and Goldberg. There's no reason it should cost any more than the price of a regular Elite figure. Mattel will get their money no matter what. Stores will order them and then after that it's not their problem.

Definitely buying this. The ring is a step up from the standard ring and a step below the ASR. The only thing that can make it bad is, "spring-loaded" technology or break away center or tornado fury! Otherwise, seems like a top notch display set.

Yeah you're right Mattel is really trying to screw you over because this will be the only Goldberg figure made by them and of course it will be the only elite ever. Just because you aren't interested in the ring doesn't make it a scam or them trying to screw you over. So dramatic. Also last time I checked the majority of people here aren't hanging over the shoulder of people who handle production costs or what goes into making these figures. It's almost like Mattel shouldn't do toy fairs or comic cons because it sends so many of you into a rage.

Well, I like the new elite ring myself. I care way more about that over a Goldberg figure -- which is trash looking with skinny legs btw. It's a throwaway that's probably been rushed. It's in there so it doesn't warm so bad at the most likely expensive price point it will end up having. I have no use for Goldberg in my fed, but like I said a ring that's updated to WWE TV these days does interest me. I thought it was an upgrade pack for the ASR with the newer posts and LED aprons the way it attached to the ring. Very intriguing seeing Mattel make this one this time instead of WCT.
I was wondering how a toy company would approach the screens. I can't tell from the pics, but I was hoping the apron graphics were interchangeable. It would also be amazing if they were lenticular so the image changed slightly depending on the angle to make it look more "alive". I hope Mattel starts packing these ring accessories with elites, too. I'd love to get apron screens, extra ropes, turnbuckles/posts, ring skirts, commentary table parts, etc. if I pick up a random figure. I believe this pack in method would help move rings more since you're getting things for it as you buy the figure line anyway.
On top of that, I'm beside myself in excitement that it looks like this ring isn't as massive as the ASR/ESR, but isn't as dinky as the toy rings. I'd love to see a comparison eventually or some specs on it because it seems like Mattel finally addressed the major complaint we all had with the ring. I hope the build quality is up to par and that Mattel seriously supports it. Even with my gripes with the ASR (size, loose ropes), Wicked Cool Toys at least supports it with skirts and cages. Ringside also supports it with better ropes.
If the new ring gets that kind of support, I'm all in.

I feel bad for the people who wanted the ring but now have to pay the added cost of being forced to buy an elite Oldberg that they never wanted.

Any price tag on it yet? Hopefully Ringside Collectibles will be doing pretty pre orders.

So I have a question and didn't really want to make a new thread..after this Goldberg and a singles release, then one a wcw style one...how many more Goldbergs will we need or get, the man wore like...2-3 different things his entire career. A street clothes one wouldn't be bad I suppose.
