The new ring looks pretty damn good and the Goldberg is a bonus imo. Agreed, I want this yesterday. I have never seen those announcer chairs available before either.

If this is indeed 20x20 I'm interested. I've never bought an ASR because it's too big. Don't care about Goldberg at all.

So I have a question and didn't really want to make a new thread..after this Goldberg and a singles release, then one a wcw style one...how many more Goldbergs will we need or get, the man wore like...2-3 different things his entire career. A street clothes one wouldn't be bad I suppose. Goldberg is probably only signed to a one year deal, if that. There's probably only a small window of time they have to get these figures out. You'd think WCW and WWE 03-04 elites are in the works. But its Mattel, they'll probably wait on producing any more figures and try to stagger out the releases and then Goldberg's contract will expire and we'll only have Oldberg (see Dudleyz).

I still can't believe I can buy a plastic lawn chair for $10, which uses 4 times more plastic and way more shelf space, but a wrestling ring costs HOW much? 80 to 100 bucks? What even is this A whole number of reasons: The cost for Mattel licensing the WWE name, trademarks and licenses. A wrestling toy is a niche item compared to a lawn chair, so many lawn chairs are made that it drives the price down. With a niche item it is a seller's market, the everyday item is more of a buyers market. How many million more lawn chairs are made a year than wrestling rings? I assume the difference in numbers is massive. Packaging: A lawn chair has what? A bar code glued on it. The ring will have a full colour box...So additional cost. The ring has a number of moulds/molds. The ring. Posts. Turnbuckles and ropes. Add decals, instructions and with this one a figure and it is a lot more complex and expensive to make than the lawn chair. Markup/ profit margin: The profit margin on the item...I assume Mattel are making a nice mark up on each ring compared to the lawn chair. Again this is "luxury" items compared to more everyday items. There are probably a fair few more reasons that I am unaware of. Thanks for breaking that down...though I still think the prices are outrageous

The first Mattel Goldberg figure comes in a ring set!? I guess they expect everyone to buy it now....well people did do it for Dusty. Maybe they have something here. I still don't like it though.

I'm at a true loss for words. Mattel finally gets a shot to produce arguably WCWs biggest star, GOLDBERG, and he's being released packaged with play accessory? .......... I'm dumbfounded. The first sting figure got the DM treatment and rightfully so. Hogan, got the DM treatment and three elites released almost back to back to back. But Goldberg is an accessory? An incentive to buy a you ring? I don't in any way condone stealing or repacking but folks are right, this will be the most stolen/repacked figure in history. If this was released at any other time, fine. But for seemingly the FIRST Bill Goldberg figure...... I'm speechless. Please for the love of God Bill or someone from Mattel comment on this. Agree 100%

I'm sure they'll be whoring out the Goldberg figures like crazy. I'd be willing to bet, you'll see some without the ring too.

I think it's a decent idea if it's $80 msrp, last time they got burned on the ESR, so Goldberg's there to prop it up. I've got a bad feeling it'll be $100 though, I hope it sells well enough to make a Smackdown set with 2000 HHH or Wrestlemania 12 w/ Warrior, or something along those lines. I still can't believe I can buy a plastic lawn chair for $10, which uses 4 times more plastic and way more shelf space, but a wrestling ring costs HOW much? 80 to 100 bucks? What even is this That's like saying you can't understand how a Mercedes costs so much more than a pickup truck since the one uses so much more of the same materials

A toy ring isn't some marvel of engineering.

A toy ring isn't some marvel of engineering. I see your point and I don't totally disagree with you but the lawn chair doesn't have licensing fees, moving parts, packaging and paint apps. It's a mold that different plastic colors are poured into. Literally cookie cutter stuff. But yeah a ring should be like $40 tops

So we were all certain that the first Goldberg figure was going to be an overpriced DM at $25. Then Mattel pulls a swerve and puts the first one as a pack-in figure in a $100 ring.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Oh...man...man alive...this is the "MATTELONTREAL SCREWJOB"
I'm legitimately sorry for those of you who wanted Goldberg and I do hope he gets released by himself at some point.

For all we know, he could be in e51/52 or any other exclusive wave we have now.
We still have 2 dms we know nothing about.
We'll probably see a classic version come before the end of the year.

I really don't get the big deal. The ring looks great, and so does the figure. Win win.
