So with the upcoming releases of Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and The Warlord as well as the rumored upcoming Greg "The Hammer" Valentine figure, it had me thinking about what characters are left for Mattel to make from the late 80s/early 90s golden age of pro-wrestling?
Although I've already expressed my disappointment with the first shots of Beefcake, I must say that Mattel has done a great job over the past couple of years of introducing more characters to their lineup. Specifically, they've dug deeper and introduced some of the more "obscure" characters from WWE's rich history. Just a few years ago, it seemed like Mattel was focused on only creating the main event and upper mid card level stars (and/or characters that had long careers) from the 80s and 90s, while the lower-level guys (and/or short-lived characters) got no attention. Since around 2014, however, Mattel has released the following superstars in action figure form:
The Wild Samoans Tito Santana Tugboat Typhoon Sid Justice Irwin R. Schyster The Ultimate Maniacz The Narcissist The Ringmaster Rocky Maivia Faarooq The Warlord Greg Valentine (rumored)
Some of these names were or would go on to become main eventers, but these characters sure weren't (Maivia, Ringmaster). Other characters like Justice and Narcissist only lasted a matter of months in the WWF. To see the amount of characters Mattel has churned out is impressive. Granted, I am still holding out hope for an Elite Sid Justice considering he main-evented WrestleMania VIII, but I digress...
As for who's left that I'd like to see from this era. There's still a decent amount, but I'm going to limit it to the top 5 most requested characters and I'll start (no one past King of the Ring 1993)...
Bad News Brown Power & Glory (Hercules & Paul Roma) The Barbarian Virgil The Mountie
What say you?

There's no rumor on Valentine. He's signed but no evidence a figure is in the works

Verryyyyy hard to pick just 5 haha but I'll try... And this is not including repaints (more Warriors, Machos, Harts, Rockers etc) or different personas of guys already made (Kona/Evil Crush, Repo Man, Strike Force Martel, etc) and also not including managers (The Genius, Slick etc):
1: Barbarian- Singles first and then HOPEFULLY we could get Powers of Pain 2: Power and Glory- Tag first so then we can get a singles Hercules after... don't need another Roma personally 3: Haku- I would buy any version up until his 2000's comeback but want his King Haku first 4: Steiner Brothers- if we got them I'm sure WCW would be first but their WWF attire was pretty colorful and fun 5: Dino Bravo- The baby blue with white logo is a must have
I'm not sure when Adam Bomb debuted but if he falls into that KOTR 93 cutoff then he jumps up to number 2 for me. There's a ton more that I would buy though!

I feel like Virgil is a pretty big guy at the time that has been forgotten.
I'd prefer the M$M bodyguard version then his red & white striped 91- singles run.

Maybe an Iraqi sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter. I like the Dino Bravo idea. That guy was pretty popular for a bit there. Also what about Hercules Hernandez.

If I ever commissioned a custom figure, it would be Dino Bravo, because an official release of him is never going to happen.
Power and Glory would be a great pair, but after listening to Roma on Austin's podcast last week, I wouldn't hold my breath on Roma getting a figure.
My personal short list of people from this era I would like to see:
1) Adorable Adrian Adonis 2) Mr. Fuji 3) Haku 4) Barbarian 5) Gorilla Monsoon
