Howdy partners; I was just thinking about the Hasbro WWF action features on their figures, and how much I disliked one of them in particular. That one where you pushed down on the tab on the fig's back and they would "leap" forward. This feature was used on Ultimate Warrior 1, Brutus Beefcake 1, Koko B. Ware, both Headshrinkers, Jimmy Snuka, Kamala, etc. I personally felt that it made the figs look awkward with their legs together (especially those with a larger frame, such as Kamala), and more so when you pushed their shoulders down and it stretched their necks out. I may be in the minority, but I HATED this feature. So, for the sake of conversation, what was YOUR least favorite action feature for the Hasbros? 100% agree. The jump feature ruined so many figures for me. Now I'll start with something good, The action feature was fun. I liked making guys fly off the top rope with this feature. But once you did that, the figure was done. The fused together legs made play very poor and limited the moves you could do with it. And the hump on the back made them unpinnable. This may have been the inspiration for the WCW hunchback gimmick. The fact that the legs all had to go up inside the torso made all of these guys look fat. Except Kamala. For some reason he looked too skinny. But among the figures with the jump gimmick, one lies deeper in the pile of dung than the rest. Marty Jannette. To be honest I never really know how this was supposed to work. I thought it was supposed to be like a flying forearm off the top rope but it never worked right for me. Worst of the worst in my book. A dishonorable mention: Hulk Hogan with Hulkster Hug. I like the way the figure looks as it's one of his most famous poses. But for play it was just odd.

I wasn't a fan of the headlock actions, mostly because they made the bodies so small, but I liked them better than: STOMPER: Warrior 3 & Giant Gonzalez style, as well as Buchwhacker/DiBiase 2/Nailz/etc. While these still looked great, the action was boring as hell. JUMPER: aside from a very select few, these always resulted in cheap looking figures or the wrestler looking too fat...or both. Not too fun to play with either since they'd usually miss their target anyway  One edit. Nailz had a wind up punch (like smash, M$M 1) not a stomp.

The Warrior 3 and Gonzalez actions I didn't care for. I liked those. That's my favourite warrior. And the Gonzalez is unique and awesome. Jumpers suck, however. Especially Snuka. He's was the first man out the rumble every time. Yeah not only was he a jumper (making him awful) he had those outstreached arms. Great for his signature pose. But terrible for play. He couldn't punch, suplex, cloths line or body slam. He could jump, and drop kick. ehh.

I think Ric Flair would have been better with a Shawn Michaels 2 or Million Dollar Man 3 action feature, maybe even a Mr Perfect... Seriously? Mr. Perfect was one of my favorites. The suplex feature was one of the most fun for play. Also versatile for other moves. You could use the arm for a punch, clothesline, side head lock, rear chin lock, hip toss, elbow drop etc.

Typhoon/Earthquake type. Took me weeks to make them stand up and then some idiot would knock them down. Normally my brother. I really liked these ones my self. I liked that they could sit and do a leg drop. Made me wish they all had free moving legs.

I must have been thinking of the short DiBiase and then my mind thought of the short Nailz, and my fingers typed it. His legs look like they're half a foot too short for that body

Never really like the headlock and punch (Rude/Flair/123 Kid) or the stompers (Warrior and Gonzalez). The jumpers weren't so bad...

I loved it when a figure was given the correct action feature to perform their finishing move (Perfect Plex).

Long before it came out I had used the Gallob one with my hasbros and even after I had the hasbro one I still preferred the galoob. Mr. Perfecs figure couldn't have been used for flair though as all of those suplex figures had singlets besides hogan who had a molded shirt. I too thought it was great when an action figure matched the character. This was few and far between however. That would be another good topic to discuss. Figures with the correct action feature. I would argue body slam hogan and warrior are correct, even jumping warrior for the gorilla slam. Snuka and Tornado, virgil, perfect, dusty, MachoMan3, hawk. Those come to mind off the top of my head. Honorable mention to nasty boy nobs who, although it wasn't his feature, was built with an open arm so that he could do the pit stop and earth quake was given a body that could accommodate the earthquake.

Thinking about it, perhaps Rockers Marty Jannetty. As discussed above, the jumping feature isn't the best action for playability and as a collector, this figure seems to have balance problems causing it to tip over and wipe out other figures on display... or maybe that's just mine? That's why I keep my Hasbros packed in together

His legs look like they're half a foot too short for that body Skinner was the other figure that had that weird Gonzalez/Warrior #4 action. I hated how Jannetty #1 would always fall over, but at least the mould was good for lots of dropkicking & Shawn #1 was also good for that, plus his fist drop from the top. Earthquake was best for doing his finishing move, slightly better than Yokozuna, whose legs caused him to lean back a bit and sometimes overbalance. I felt Crush was the worst for his finisher. He can only do the Cranium Crush on Pop Vinyl figures!!

Warrior #1 was also perfect for doing his flying shoulder tackle. I remember some of my Hasbro's having extensive movesets due to their mouldings. For instance, my BBB did superkicks, spinning heel kicks, diving headbutts, moonsaults, running sentons and turnbuckle bombs. My Mr Perfect did that standing dropkick where he puts his arm on the head first, he also did a big chop to the chest with his left arm, headlocks, vertical suplexes, rebound jumping elbows and of course, the Perfect-Plex, one of my most favourite moves ever! I even got plenty of moves out of my Ricky Steamboat, dropkicks, knife-edged chops, too rope tomahawk chops, jumping throat thrusts, hip tosses, Japanese arm drags, as well as his diving crossbody. Ah, good times!

I was never fond of the Jump Action Hasbros either. The only exception being Kamala since the disproportionate frame added to the figure's odd charm and the Legion of Doom to pull of Hawk's high flying moves.
Though, I do hope the Legion of Doom get re-released in future waves of the Retro Action series in different molds.

The stomping Bushwhacker Ric Flair's rude awakening, but only with Flair Warrior and Beefcake's jumping. I was fine with Snuka and Shawn.
