With the news that his upcoming opponent, Austin Hayes, would be leaving the promotion ahead of their match, Hugh Jass has announced that he refuses to accept the forfeit, and would not take the free win on his record. When asked why, he had this to say.
"Simply put, I will not take my first official win that way. I am not in any position to win the gauntlet to begin with, so I don't want the free pity points. I respect Austin's decision to step away with notice and not leave me hanging out in the ring waiting for him to show up. I just cannot in good conscience take my first singles victory in this manner.
That being said, if any other superstars want to get on the show, I will gladly take on someone else, as long as they give me enough notice to get my gear on and get out there. "
