A brilliant film. Finally I can agree with the critiques on something!

Saw it last night. I enjoyed it, though I think I prefer Days of Future Past for now. I could see myself change my mind when I watch it a couple of more times.

It sucks that as soon as they get it right, Jackman is leaving!
Overall I loved the film. Thought Jackman and Stewart brought their A-Game. Dafne Keen has a great future ahead of her! Merchant was awesome. Even Holbrook and Grant, though not featured as much, played their parts well, each with a unique charm.
Things I liked: * The brutality in that opening scene totally set the tone of the film. * The fight scenes were very well done, including the car chase. * The chemistry and banter between Caliban and Logan. * The relationships between Charles + Laura, Charles + Logan, and Logan + Laura are really well acted and played out. * Casino scene * Without spoiling, I felt the death scenes were very emotional.
The only thing that bothered me was the surprise villain, as I could think of 3 possible replacements that could have been better. But I didn't hate it. It worked, just the comic fan in me was hoping for someone else.

i legit thought it was terrible. just a bad movie from start to finish, completely dependent on corny moments and violence. no real character development, no depth, nothing.
that caliban character had the most pointless side character i've potentially seen in a movie...ever. why did he kill himself? what did it accomplish? lol
one of the times when sticking to the source (old man logan comic) is what should of been done instead of varying far of course...which is often the case for bad comic movies.

I don't think it was a terrible movie, I think it was good to a certain degree.. But I completely agree with your points about being dependent on corny moments and violence. This movie used many fan boy services as a crutch and the movie as a whole suffered. Like in the last scene one of the mutant kids was holding a Wolverine action figure.. lol, why?

For me this movie just beat Winter Soldier as my favorite super hero movie. I was hooked start to finish. I got misty eyed when Charles died and then again when Logan was impaled, though I was going to be fine until Laura called him daddy and then the heart strings were snapped. Amazing acting, great story, it is overall a perefect end for Logan. Also anyone else think they should have went with this for the credits instead of Man Comes Around

I think that's my favorite superhero movie since TDK (or possibly Captain America: TFA).

Saw it yesterday. Thought it was kickass and the first time I've left a stand alone Wolverine film truly happy with what I watched. It was awesome to see him unleashed and tragic to see him so broken. I thought they did a really nice job with the X-23 storyline. It fit within the confines of the world they built. I also really loved the dynamic between Charles, Logan and X-23. The banter was pretty hysterical in a charming sort of way. I also liked that Charles and Wolverine were both remnants of their former selves but you saw two sides of the coin in how they were handling it, I think for obvious reasons. It really pushed the hope vs despair theme.
I think there was more Wolverine story to tell. There was plenty of space between X3, or the reset after DoFP, where we could have seen him in the costume or seen the fall of the X-men, or just Logan out on his own before his very end, but I didn't have a problem with them sending off Jackman and Wolverine together. I think everything was very deliberate and it was supposed to be bittersweet both in the film and in real life and I think that makes it a more meaningful story.
I doubt Jackman is done, honestly. I'm sure they're going to find a way, either through Deadpool or the MCU, to rope him back into the role. If they fully reboot X-Men and we get a new Wolverine, then it'll be time to move on, but that's an "I'll believe it when I see it," kind of deal. Either way, I enjoyed the hell out of it and I think it's worth exerting the energy to see in theaters. I don't think I really felt this was can't miss going into it but I largely feel that way now.

I really, really enjoyed it, especially given how little I liked the two previous Wolverine films. It didn't strike me quite as hard as it appears to be hitting most people, though. The violence, while fitting the story and tone of the film, did feel really gratuitous at times - almost as though they they felt the need to make up for lost opportunities in previous films. Same goes for the language.
Neither of those things bother me when they're effective and purposeful, but like I said, it just felt like it was a little too over the top.

Late to the party... but I really enjoyed the movie.
Being a huge X-Men fan, it definitely set the bar. I loved the comedic tone between Xavier and Logan. Action was superb and it took some time to get use to the violence. Worth the R rating and action packed.
Might drag my fiancé to see it again lol.

One question I have is, what was Logan sick with? Did he have cancer? Everyone mentions it Calibren, Xavier, the doctor, Laura, even Logan says "this is what is probably making me sick". Was it the cancer that was making him not be able to heal, because the cancer was eating away at him faster than he can heal?

I'm pretty sure it was just that the adamantium in his skeleton was poisoning him. He mentions that the same thing will probably happen to Laura.
