Yeah, wildly. But it was still a lot of fun at the time.

It's a maybe for me. Of all the N64 wrestling games, this was one I played the least (although I still played it a lot). I think I threw in the towel early on the game after it glitched out and deleted all my progress a couple of times. Plus I recall tons of slow down in certain modes. Coupled together, it caused me to move on to other titles pretty quickly.
Definitely not a bad game. But for me it was a case where the game was stuck on a system it had outgrown. If all the modes worked smoothly, and that awful glitch wasn't present, I think it'd rank up higher for me.

My main issue with No Mercy was that it constantly deleted my save files but apparently that was an issue with all the pre order releases.
However it's impossible to hate the game but it's not the greatest of all time because WM2000 and WCW Revenge are equal to it imo.

I would say yes and no. If we're looking at games based on when they were released and what they were for their time then no, it's not overrated. However, if we're talking about how it holds up nowadays, then yes, it is extremely overrated.

nowadays KIDS prefer graphics and sound over gameplay, but let me tell you this, a real gamer knows its about the gameplay, the controls, the logic of the handling, taking in mind the controller and nature of the genre.
anything that's overrated doesn't last 17 years and counting. by mid year KIDS will be wetting their pants over the new 2K announcement, every 10 or so months you upgrade the game, but with the AKI series they still stand their ground especially if you LIVED the Monday Night Wars.
For me it is one of the coolest games ever! but I am biased as I only play N64 and am even creating a WM2000/WCW-nWo Revenge/VPW2 hybrid mod. Dont get me wrong I do like 2K but lets be honest the entrances are the coolest thing in those games, its like the opposite of No Mercy!
Roman Reigns is overrated, but not if you are a KID.

No. It is a 17 year old game. As great as it was flaws show after such a long time.

As many others stated, the glitch that deletes all your progress made this game almost unplayable to me. After the third or fourth time doing this, I just decided to play Wrestlemania 2000 exclusively. Not sure why No Mercy is held in higher regard than WM2000 as they're pretty much the same title

Roster is better, WM2000 has better gameplay. The run mechanic was all f***y.

Every time I get in the mood to play No Mercy I go through the same steps...
1.Play No Mercy 2.Spend hours tinkering around with No Mercy mods 3.Get stuck trying to install new mods 4.Say %$(# it and play VPW2 5.Say &$^% it AGAIN and play King of Colosseum 2
And no, it's not overrated. I mean, it's overrated compared to VPW2, but that's not the same. You just really had to have suffered through WM Arcade, IYH, Warzone, and Attitude to appreciate how much our lives changed after WM2000 and Smackdown! were coming out.

Incredibly so. The slowdown was pretty brutal, and the super cheating AI made the story mode an unbearable struggle - but some people seem to love super difficult/cheap as hell games.

I liked being able to edit everything about a superstar. In WWE 2k17, you can't change things like a superstars hair. Would have been awesome to be able to give current Undertaker long hair since 2K decided to be lazy and just copy the same Undertaker from WWE 2k16 even though Undertaker had long hair at Survivor Series AND WrestleMania 32.

Yeah, I thought the real revolutionary game was WCW/nWo Revenge and then after that Smackdown! for PlayStation which is the same series 2K continues today.
No Mercy was in between those but didn't do it for me.
