He was kind of snake bit by not being able to come in as Joe Hennig imo. I know we talked about that a lot when he was doing NXT, primarily because his name was so incredibly bad.
I'm of the opinion that the guy is a former Intercontinental Champion and his dad was the greatest intercontinental champion of all time. If nothing else, he had a pretty amazing 2013. A stretch of time where he can say he did what his dad did, at least to some degree. I think Axel is a solid worker, but struggles with promos, charisma, and hasn't ever really had an identity.
I passionately loved his father as a performer. Mr. Perfect is one of the greatest of all time. That's not hyperbole for me either. He's on the list of the 10 greatest total package guys ever to step foot in a wrestling ring. I think I've tried to cling onto some of that through Axel, but I have to admit I've never made a connection with the guy beyond my love for his dad. Maybe it's him, or maybe WWE just never found the right fit, but whatever the issue, I don't think he's going to all of a sudden solve the puzzle at 37 years old.

I was thinking the other day, he could be "Almost Perfect" Joe Hennig. He would shoot 100 free throws but miss the last one. Hey, he's almost perfect - just not quite there yet. I've called him average Joe Hennig for years now. And this was practically the same thing...lol

I like his name, now, wayyy better than Michael miguillicuty, but as a wrestler, he just seems bland

Curtis Axel, David Sammartino, Erik Watts, David Flair, I could go on.....just because you're second generation talent doesn't mean you'll be good. Charlotte, Natalya, and DH Smith should be included there.

Axel's time has come and gone. There are some successful second/third generation wrestlers including Randy Orton, The Rock, and like it or not, Roman Reigns.

Charlotte, Natalya, and DH Smith should be included there. Charlotte? You mean like a different Charlotte right? Not the Charlotte? I included Charlotte in there because she's successful, but nowhere near as talented as her father in any aspect. It just took one phone call and she was in. The only reason she's so successful is because Ric is close friends with HHH and Vince, and is a huge name in the business. If she wasn't Ric Flair's daughter, she wouldn't be anywhere near WWE. The same goes with the likes of Curtis Axel and Natalya.

PFFTT, Davey Boy Smith Jr was hella underrated but had a Good Tag title Reign with Tyson Kidd, He's actually way better in Japan, He's a Great Tag Wrestler, and so was British Bulldog.

With me being a fan of his father I wish they did give him a better run. At least he got a run with the IC belt though as it seems that will be the highlight of his WWE career unfortunately.

I don't dislike anything about Axel. I also don't LIKE anything about him. That's the problem. I think sending him to NXT certainly wouldn't hurt. If he's a flop there, it was never meant to be.

Give him to Wyatt to form a new version of the family when Rowan comes back.
Chuck Curt Hawkins in there too.
