It seems that the hasbro figures old and new have erupted over the last couple months. What's the reason I wonder? Is it the release of the new Mattel retro line that's peaked everyone's interest again or just that "Wwe" is so crap these days that wrestling fans are trying to rekindle their love of wrestling through the old school years. I've personally been getting maybe 6,7,8 emails a day about some of my rarer pieces and about buying and selling loose and moc figures. Not complaining it's great to see all the hasbro posts here but just a general inquiry what people think is the reason for the spike in the old figures again

In my experience it happens in waves: suddenly there's a lot of interest, then almost none. Usually interest has a peak when a wrestler dies. Now it's probably because of the Mattel Retro line.

It seems like there have always been 4 - 5 exceptional items presented each year by collectors since I have been here.

I had sold off almost my entire collection again, and then I got rekindled because of the Mattel retros. I almost certainly think that's the reason prices are up. And if they keep making them I don't see the prices going back down anytime soon.
It's crazy and none of the actual "retro" guys are out yet. I haven't touched the 4 current guys even though I saw them sitting at my Walmart. I'm still waiting for Taker and Warrior to start showing up and hoping the series 2 is soon to follow.

I can't believe what some people are asking on auction sites for stuff. $4,500 for the 7 green cards lol. When I first glanced at the listing I thought perhaps the guy was selling the COMPLETE series for that.

Some of the prices you see listed now, I'm sure the sellers are pissed or smoking something! They sit there for months on 'buy it now' and not a sniff! Does my nut in, if u want to sell them, auction them!!!

I like bin if the price is reasonable or they're willing to consider reasonable offers. I could see not wanting to do auctions as you never know how it's gonna go, and with the fees ebay and paypal take plus having to pay to ship, it takes out a big chunk.
I've been on both ends lol. And I'm pretty impatient to wait for auctions to end, and I'm not able to hang around and bid in the last 8 seconds, so I typically get outbid by a quarter each time in the last moments by the snipers.

Been getting back into collecting hasbros recently. Probably going to go for a full set. What do you think is a good BIN price for one of the common figures, in relatively good condition? Paid $10 shipped for a Rick Rude earlier today, is that bad, or about what it shoud be?

I think it has a lot to do with the retros. I'm glad that the spot light is back on this line.

It makes complete sense that the launch of Mattel's retro line has peaked interest in the original Hasbro line.
Toy lines usually get "hot" when there is a catalyst that sparks a revival (Star Wars 1995 relaunch for example).
I think the craziest thing in my opinion is seeing figures like red card Bret and Taker soar to the prices they are at now. I remember selling some of my extras a little while back for around $50 a piece and being pretty happy about it! Green cards have also jumped quite a bit, as well as most of Series 3 US card and Dusty.
The historically hard to find figures and popular wrestlers seem to be enjoying the biggest boost in prices.
Personally, I love the fact that this line is getting the shine that it deserves and hope the retro line continues on for some time.

Got a series 1 Warrior from the same user for about the same price.

I've always been a fan since being a kid, I'm 33 now so when hasbros first come out I was 7 when they started snd about 11 when they stopped so I was prime age for them
Before joining here though I didn't realise what a community there was for them though

I've been kicking myself the last couple of days after letting a really excellent condition Evil Crush and 1-2-3 Kid slip through my fingers (they were 70 euros each, which is about $75), I put an offer in to see if I could shave a bit off them (stupid move) and someone else swooped in.

That really was the deal of a lifetime, he had Borga too but it wasn't in as great condition. I did get an Undertaker with coat from him for a good price thankfully.

the new retro line along with the best time of the year for wrestling stuff/sales is right around the corner: wrestlemania. nostalgia runs wild around this time.

I'm probably in the minority here but it came about for me thanks to my retro game collecting.
I have been playing WWF Royal Rumble for Sega and SNES and Hasbro made the figures from those games.
One thing that I don't hear mentioned a lot on here that's AMAZING about collecting Hasbro is (in my opinion) the loose figures mostly age better than any other toy series I've ever collected.
You can get a loose figure and he's still shiny and new looking.
Even my figures from when I was really little still look fresh out of the box.

For me Royal Rumble on SNES and Wrestlefest Arcade are synonymous with the Hasbro Line. I still play both... got my original SNES setup and a MAME box. If you are born in the late 70's, you get it.
