Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned WWE and Sinclair Broadcast Group have recently discussed a potential buyout of Ring of Honor in secret … this according to sources.
Multiple sources with direct knowledge tell us the companies have been talking since January and things have been slowly progressing, with the plan being a full takeover if the deal is made official.
This would include the weekly TV show beginning to air on the WWE Network. No word at this point on whether every wrestler on the roster would continue working in ROH if it happens.
Keep in mind, there’s no actual deal on the table right now and discussions are simply that. This means the buyout could always fall through if both sides can’t agree on specifics.
Case in point, WWE had discussions with TNA last year about a buyout that never came to fruition.
Reps for WWE for ROH declined to comment.

1. I'll believe it when I see it.
2. Is Pro Wrestling Sheet even a reliable "news source"? Sounds like more made up Meltzer "maybe/maybe not" garbage.

Please don't ing happen. We need more strong alternatives to WWE, not less.

I don't believe anything anymore until it's official. Same type of reports last year stated that wwe was going to buy TNA or their tape library. Absolute nothing came out of that

While I'm not sure if I believe this or not, I wouldn't be against NXT & ROH merging into one roster. Then some of the standouts of NXT (Nakamura, Almas, Asuka, Revival, Roode) could be called up and NXT would still be a viable roster.

I'm a WWE guy through thick and thin, but more wrestling promotions the better even if I don't watch them.

Inheriting many ROH wrestlers [CHECK]
Weekly ROH on the network [CHECK]
WWE could cash in off that library with footage of Zayn, Cesaro, Owens, Rollins, AJ Styles, etc. [CHECK]
I'm on board 100% and I am not even an ROH fan.

I hope not. Less places to work, worse the wrestling scene becomes. It would be great if the Network had the library, but not at the sacrifice of losing another company.

I dont mind a WWE monopoly, the problem is whom they have in charge. The NBA/ABA, NFL/AFL etc have shown that you can take multiple "leagues" under 1 umbrella and make them very successful. Even in a "fake sport" this can be done but there has to be people in charge that dont show personal biases and realize its the fans that chose who the stars are going to be. Not the other way around.

If this is true it proves what I've been saying about ROH for a long time now: WWE sees them as a potential threat.

If this is true it proves what I've been saying about ROH for a long time now: WWE sees them as a potential threat. Eh, if TNA was never a real threat with a major TV deal and guys like Jeff Hardy, Angle, Hogan, and Foley - ROH certainly isn't. Especially with the amount of internal turmoil within the company right now, and guys jumping ship left-and-right.

Besides the tape library, I don't get what they'd win out of this. ROH is basically a free farm system for them like ECW was, probably more so. I'd hate to see ROH shows toned down to a WWE level. I went to NXT last month expecting something similar to ROH and while the crowd was similar, the in-ring stuff just wasn't as fast paced or physical. Nor were the matches as long.
