I know we'll always have the umpteenth Undertakers, Machos and Ultimate Warriors until this line ends. But I was thinking; which other legends have more elites that elite Surfer Sting (blonde flat top w/rat tail)? I think you'll be surprised! Terry Funk Hawk & Animal Kerry Von Erich Big Bossman Papa Shango/Godfather Andre the Giant Curt Hennig Ric Rude Booker T Jake Roberts British Bulldog Dusty Rhodes Cactus Jack/Mankind HBK HHH Hornswoggle!! Batista Randy Orton The Rock Steve Austin M$M Iron Shiek Edge & Christian Kane Big Show/The Giant Mark Henry Rey Mysterio Brock Lesnar R Truth Goldust William/Steve Regal Bret Hart Yokozuna Lex Luger Ric Flair Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard Chris Jericho Razor Ramon/Scott Hall (upcoming) Diesel/Kevin Nash Jerry Lawler Vader Earthquake Typhoon/Shockmaster/Tugboat DDP JBL/Bradshaw Faarooq (APA/NOD) Xpac/1-2-3 Kid and I'm sure I'm missing some more. There are 6 elite Sting figures though. You are only counting surfer Stings while counting Typhoon/ Tugboat/ Shockmaster as three, even though they are all different gimmicks. There is one Typhoon just as there is one Surfer Sting.
In saying that, obviously we need more Surfer Stings. There have been countless threads discussing this.

Doesn't the BATB count as a surfer sting? For what it's worth, yes. But we do need some flashback surfer's soon.

technically BATB Sting is a Surfer Sting yes, it's on the eve of his Crow Gimmick. I'm talking about the classic Sting - Clash of Champions 1 Sting, All-neon pink, green, yellow Stings, Starrcade '89 & '90 Sting, War Games '92 Sting, White Castle of Fear all-white Sting; New Japan/WCW Supershow '91 and '92 Stings, there are as many Sting colourful combos as there are Ultimate Warriors. PWI 500/WWE Alumni Sting in orange with white/orange/blue face paint is coming out as a basic...ugh

I like the way you think 👍🏻👍🏻 But unfortunately, as long as people keep buying the same old worn out characters then that's all they're gonna wanna make. No open minds at Wwe or Mattel at all.

Yeah but Sting has only been signed to a contract for just under 3 years now. Plus you have to take into consideration that it takes about a year to produce a figure. So in that short window of time he has had two different DMs, regular line elite, HOF elite, TNF elite, RSC exclusive elite. He has had 6 elites and 1/3 of them have been Surfers. They all can't be Surfers. There has to be a balance of Classic Crow, Current Crow, and Surfer because all are figures that are in demand. Considering he is no longer active, we will likely not see anymore Current Crow so that should free up more opportunities for Surfer.

So why make another basic Surfer Sting? What market are they trying to corner? They are sitting on a cash cow because Surfer Sting should be in the Retro series, instead we have a Mutant Crow Sting warming our Walmarts. If you thought elite 2-pack Warrior/Shango is off the charts, do you know the killing they would make doing an elite 2-pack of Warrior & Sting circa '90-'92??? I know Steve Borden likes his crow gimmick more, but the argument always is - kids will bug their parents to buy a toy with flashy colours - so why not capitalize on a very successful gimmick?

Wow, one year to produce a figure in this day & technology age? I had no idea it took that long. So even if they do make the R&R Express in the hall of fame series or another, we still won't see them before sometime in 2018?? That really bites 😬

I have plans to be at SDCC in 2019. Unless Bill wants to feel a scorpion deathlock, there better be some elite surfer Stings out by then!!

Why not basic Surfer Stings as well as elites? Plus you have to think as long as Borden stays signed the percentage of Surfers vs Crow will only increase. There are countless Surfer looks they can do and only a handful left of the Crow. Sting sells so I am sure Mattel will try to get as many elites they can of him in future lines along with basics and any other line (retro, mutants, zombies, etc).

Hopefully the reason that we don't have more is that they are going back to the drawing board on that headscan.

I'll be honest I just want more Stings, I won't lie I constantly complain about the Sting figures and their inaccuracies, but it's because Sting is my favorite of ALL TIME. I've waited a long time to get some decent Sting figures and Mattel is capable of that. I feel like their Sting figures leave more to be desired, my favorite being the Crow DM sting with my only complaints being the huge roided arms and inaccurate short boots. Also, for anyone out there to understand what I'm talking about imagine if we never got a decent Ultimate Warrior figure. Then after 16 years you get one and then it has a bunch of inaccuracies and face paint isn't on par or the boots are inaccurate. Wouldn't you be disappointed? I mean look how awesome the SDCC Taker is. Anyways, I wish they wouldn't cheap out on the Sting figures and by that I mean his casting his head in flesh and painting the face properly without covering the chin, forehead and hairline, giving him the hawk arms for his crow releases, making a singlet torso that is actually wider for his wcw years and non painted, correcting his wcw boots by making them taller, adding wrist cuffs and making some variety to his lines on his face (he actually changed it up a bit). I think it would be within the budget to retool it, they already have the parts minus redoing the boots and torso. Now surfer sting is another problem, they need to give him the Austin torso and thicker legs then they're all set. A nice vinyl/soft goods jacket would be perfect too. The Wolfpac one would also benefit from what I stated with the crow Stings plus readjusting the logos, but it is what is and I know they'll re-release this figure somewhere along the line... The HOF Sting was a huge disappointment for me, we waited one year for a ring attire Sting only for it to be a figure with the same headscan and a worse torso. I honestly think the torso used on the Wolfpac Sting is more fit for a modern Sting. They choose the Mr.perfect one which just looks odd with the Sting legs, the scorpions also sit way too low... My biggest grip being the reused boots which are inaccurate for modern Sting, they should be similar to ones used on Jerry Lawler and glossed. If anyone has the old toybiz TNA Sting figures you'll know what I mean. One more thing! The bat, the bat... needs to be retooled to either look taped bat or just aluminum. Anyways, this is what I honestly think about the Sting figures. It sounds like I'm complaining, but also with Sting figures it's a one and done deal unlike john Cena etc who get multiple releases and get retooled and have more options for fixups. I would love to see the same attention given to other figures to Sting.

Everyone has more elites than Surfer Sting and it really makes no sense. They should be pumping out Surfer Sting figures at least at a four per year pace. Hell, if I had my way there would be a surfer Sting in every elite, basic and BP wave they released.
