Hasbro Warrior 3 stands slightly taller than retro Warrior.

And I just picked up retro Taker this morning, didn't uncard him yet, but next to the MOC Hasbro Takers, the Hasbros look much larger. Hasbro was never about accuracy though. Look how small Million Dollar Man #1 was, and Bret's figure is huge for him (but still looks great, so happy they didn't go with a different style).

I prefer the old hasbros to be honest... still they're cool

I think the Mattel's far better functionally, but it's not touching the spirit of the Hasbro, like even though the Mattel face has better face paint, the black patch and smile makes him look all optimistic, like "Ooh, I like butterflies!", and the Hasbro's like "I HAVE TRAINED MY ENTIRE LIFE SO THAT I CAN RIP YOUR HEAD OFF!". Nailed it. These Mattel versions lack any spirit. They look lifeless. I really don't understand how some of their stuff gets approved for production. I think we're forgetting the novelty of the Hasbro line. They were just toys meant to be played with which is the essence this new series is trying to capture. Are they perfect? Maybe not, but I think they're doing a decent job remaining faithful to the Hasbro look. Let's not pretend like the original figures were flawless productions. I don't recall Warrior wearing a green weightlifting belt too often.

These new retro figures are nowhere as detailed as Hasbro's. Mattel's have very soft lines and details, which give them a very cheap look. Even the carding doesn't have the same detail. Cool concept, poor execution. Well said. Something I could not put my finger on. It's the lines and Mattel looks cheap. I also think the Hasbro face looks better and meaner. I want to like Mattel but Hasbro has that extra detail and charm in a way.

I've liked all of the other retro figures, but all three Hasbro Warriors absolutely wipe the floor with this one.

Let's not pretend like the original figures were flawless productions. I don't recall Warrior wearing a green weightlifting belt too often. They originally planned to have the IC belt molded on to Warrior. After realizing that he wasn't going to be IC champ forever, they decided to take some creative liberty and make it a weightlifting belt. It was apparently too late in production to change course. I always assumed it was so it created a break between his torso and trunks and kept it from looking like he had a big gut.

I always assumed it was so it created a break between his torso and trunks and kept it from looking like he had a big gut. I was never quite sure why they did that either. However, I recently saw a sketch from Rudat that confirmed why the belt sculpt exists and that it did indeed include the title drawn where the "weight belt" currently sits.

Warrior 2 had the best mold but it was the worst of the 3 color schemes imo. I prefer Warrior 3 over the other Hasbros and Mattel's attempt. I'm still glad we got a new Warrior. My only real complaint is the stacked torso mold. The head and detail are pretty great though.

Picked up 2 of the Mattel retro. I'm glad we got it but it comes across as looking like a custom a little bit.

That would have happened around the time the figure was designed.

Taker looks good. Just wish he didn't have the hat.

Yes I am disappointed with this new retro line. they are even more cartoony than the hasbros.
I love that first series one hasbro warrior, for me, the figs with the legs together (Brutus the barber etc) are some of the most classic figs, I mean what other toy figures ever had that function... I love it. Series one ultimate Warrior Hasbro is one of my all time favourites.
Still on the fence whether to pick up a fee of these Mattel retros.

Although on a slightly different note, I've just started to buy a few of the Basic Mattel line. I like these, good packaging, very retro in many ways with the basic blister pack. I bought Dusty Rhodes, Ulitmare Warrior, Bret Hart and Ric Flair from the Mattel Basic series. Ummm, and I've actually just ordered the Jakks Ric Flair robe hahaha Ooooo you're gonna get in trouble
