Ok folks so we often ask "whats your fave SW movie" around here and its generally an easy enough one for us to answer. For the record its Empire Strikes back for me.
BUT.....what may be slightly more difficult (I know it is for me) is what's everyone's SECOND favourite SW movie?
I often flip flop on this one and I find it relates to what period in SW history I do find myself fascinated with at the time. But most commonly my 2nd favourite is.....
Star Wars Ep VI: Return Of The Jedi.
discuss......
EDIT: I didn't put this in the other thread because I felt it was more for news etc. If an Admin/Mod feels differently? that's cool beans by me.

Star Wars.
Or "A New Hope" as we're supposed to call it. Return of the Jedi is my favourite for the record.

Mine is Jedi. Empire is my favorite, and one of my very favorite movies of all time, but ROTJ is a close second for me. I was never an anti-Ewok guy. The opening at Jabba's Palace is iconic cinema and brought the series back to the desert in a really fun way, which is some of my favorite scenery in ANH. The third act is also incredibly strong and moving with the father/son relationship overcoming the Emperor and then getting to see Anakin take his place with Yoda and Ben. Plus, Han and Leia's relationship gets to shine as a duo, and Lando kind of gets his own moment too. Speeder Bikes, obviously. I think in totality, it has the best overall use of the lightsabers in the OT as well, even though the Bespin fight is my favorite single lightsaber battle.
I think the first 2/3 of ANH are really strong but I'm honestly not that in love with the way the third act ends in the X-wing. Not that it's bad, and obviously blowing up the OG Deathstar is a massive moment in the lore, but the scene was more of a stepping stone in the way that Empire and Jedi would both end, primarily the gamesmanship between Luke and Vader. That being said, I really love everything up to where they escape with Leia. Like really love. So that's kind of where I go back-and-fourth if I'm trying to split hairs.
Regardless, I hold the OT in so much higher regard than anything that has come after it. I think Episode 7 and Rogue One were both great, considerably better than the prequel trilogy in every way imaginable imo, but neither of those films are OT level for me. So I'm still waiting for that moment where something hits me the way the OT did. Maybe it never happens, but I certainly welcome the day.

The Force Awakens behind Empire for me. Though if I give Rogue One a rewatch it could be up there as well.
I should rewatch all of the Star Wars movies....

It's basically a tie between A New Hope and Revenge of the Sith.

I'm surprised Rogue One hasn't got at least 1 vote....I reckon I will get fonder of it with repeat viewing and I already loved it.

Jedi is #2 for me.
Empire is # 1.
TFA, RO, and ANH are all very close together for that #3-4-5, and are almost interchangeable.
Then it's Revenge.
Then waaay back there is Phantom.
Then all the way back there so far that you barely hugging see it is Clones.

My Star Wars movie ranking is ANH, ESB, ROTJ, TFA, Rogue One, and then the three prequels all about 50 leagues lower.

After the first couple of times that I watched it, I thought it was the best since Jedi, but after having a few months to reflect on it and rewatch both it and TFA, I decided Force Awakens is better.

Empire Strikes Back use to be my #1 but over the last couple years I've found myself putting A New Hope in the first slot with Empire Strikes Back coming in 2nd.
Rogue One is easily saved by the 3rd act.. It's decent enough but if it wasn't for the final act the entire movie would be underwhelming.. I still think Diego Luna and Felicity Jones were absolutely terrible in it and dragged things down for me.

I'm putting Rogue One for my 3rd watch this evening. Really looking forward to it.
