Jakks had pros but a ton of negatives. My main issue is with sculpt. I get why RAs weren't great. They came out in 2002 and by the time people wanted more articulation, they were in too deep to change the style. Mattel sort of has this issue but at least they're experimenting ie. The new elbow joints. However, DA came out in 2006 and there was no reason for those to be as ugly as they were. It's like the r3 line failed so they tried to go the complete opposite direction. Some of those r3 sculpts are better than what Mattel is putting out 16 years later. Mainly the torso and arms. Those r3 torsos were crazy realistic looking. I mean go look at the r3 benoit and edge. The problem is the articulation SUCKED and the boots looked like a customizer using miliput for the first time. They're crooked, uneven, and look like chicken legs. Anyway, I never respected jakks even back in the day because of the horsecrap they'd pull. No designs on the back, deliberately wrong part choices only to release the correct ones later, deliberate laziness ie. giant Gonzalez having no detail on the legs, one partner in wrestling gear the other in a tshirt and the list goes on. Mattel has a bunch of issues mainly the plastic shirts and wrong part choices, but it's a lot harder to make a list of bad Mattel figures than it is to make a list of great jakks figure. Mattel is consistent and it's why I continue to buy them. Yeah rhyno is a dud but it's the first one in a while. It seemed like every wave from jakks had at least one dud. I remember being like 13 when RA's came back and it was so odd that Jakks took a step back in terms of realistic-ness, but I was ecstatic that my TTL's were in scale with RA's and that RA's had the best playability we'd ever gotten. R3's were a nightmare playability wise, and those chicken legs...ugh that R3-2 Edge was just a great figure and he could barely stand because of how thing his legs were Thinking back I was fondly remembering Jakks being decently high quality until like late 2008/early 2009...then i remembered the Draft Series in 2002. If you guys want real humor go look at the figures in that set and then the back of the cards and the comments they had for some of the figures. I actually do not think there is worse toy series than the Draft series, seriously the maximum sweat, zombies, etc...are on the same par as that series. I don't think we got 1 new wrestler, and the only figures that I can remember even being like different than previous figures were: -Edge was a repaint in white/green -1st R3 Tajiri (which was a repaint/already in an upcoming series) -1st R3 RVD (which was a repaint/already in an upcoming series) -1st R3 Booker T (which was a repaint/already in an upcoming series) -1st R3 Kurt (which was a repaint/already in an upcoming series) -1st R3 Billy/Chuck in red (which was a repaint/already in an upcoming series) I'd argue that like 75% of the figures in that series were in street gear too! They released an Al Snow figure in the draft that was 100% identical to a figure released like 3 years earlier in ROTR 1.

Jakks were available world wide, prices were the same internationally. I never once had to resort to ordering a jakks figure online.

BUT THEY KEEP GIVING FINN BALOR THE WRONG TORSO! Rhyno shoulders! (His Jakks figure looked way worse) In fairness, they only RA Rhyno's made by jakks were in the first year or 2 of RA's...they didn't have the same parts they had after the line had been out for a while.

Jakks were available world wide, prices were the same internationally. I never once had to resort to ordering a jakks figure online. I don't know if it's the same issue with Mattels, but Jakks was notorious for some stores only getting some series and vice-versa. That's how this forum was so helpful was that you always knew which retailer to check for a certain series. KB Toys was the best for the early RA's and later TTLs TRU was the best for RA's after about series 20, and CS figures I distinctly remember target being the go to place for RA 16.5, early DA's Walmart was always the best for AD's Also back in the day Jakks would give a retailer an actual exclusive that was the 1st release of a figure, that was the absolute worst...especially if you were like me and only had a Target/TRU near you. There was however substantial price discrepancy between places, KB was always about $2-3 more expensive per figure than other stores. So you always kind of rooted for Target/Walmart/TRU to get the series so that you could save a lot. Gosh I can't believe you used to be able to get a double pack for $9.99 and now you can barely even get 1 figure for. I remember when $20 got you 4-5 figures everywhere but KB (unless they had one of their notorious buy one get one free, or buy one get one for $0.01).

I'd would have loved to see Jeremy and Bill in charge of Mattel WWE together. Imagine what we could see. Yeah, Bill is awesome at his job, and u can tell he loves what he does. But clearly isn't a big fan of being in front of the camera. Which makes the fact that he does it even better. Hats off to you Bill. Jeremy loved the camera, and his passion came through. Maybe the new guy Dave Vonner (who seems to have a awesome rep) can fill the role of Jeremy. Comic Con will be interesting this year.

I actually do, worst part that they gave him, of all people, new molds like dafuq Ya Delaney came at a point where pretty much the entire roster had already been made or was planned. By 2008/2009 Jakks was at the point where mattel has been at recently with releasing lines full of mid-carders, jobbers, and divas

Thats literally the only thing I miss about Jakks is that we got figures in a timely fashion. It typically takes 9-12 months to get out a superstar after their debut and typically they're always outdated because they change their look. Ellsworth will come out his current gimmick, but he'll look how he did back in November. We're going to get current Goldberg after his run is already over. I hate that about Mattel. It takes too long to get out the new figures.

Jakks gave us BCAs though back in the late 90s, so I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Jakks.
Plus like others said, Jakks usually got the head scans better than Mattel does.
But over all, I still rather have Mattel figures on display before Jakks.

I still love (most of) my Jakks figures. I recognize what they did for the industry and all the good times I had with them.
I still laughed at this thread. The point wasn't lost on me. Maybe we should open another thread for Jakks v. Mattel amd let this one just be funny for cripes' sake.

You proved his point I understood his point, it just seemed to be written in a condescending manner. It's a website for toys, there are going to be young people on here. There's no need to word it that way to assert an opinion.

I remember being a kid and even BCAs were all so out of date. Thered be Truth Commission Kurrgan when the Oddities were a thing.
