As everyone saw on the Smackdown Live after WrestleMania 33, “The King Of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura made his long-awaited main roster debut. Nakamura’s first televised in-ring match is set to be vs. Dolph Ziggler at WWE Backlash May 21st. But, there were talks of Nakamura possibly making his main roster debut at WrestleMania.
According to SportsKeeda, Nakamura was reportedly going to be facing The Miz at WrestleMania 33. The reported plan was that The Miz & SD Live GM Daniel Bryan’s issue with one another was supposed to escalate all the way to WrestleMania 33. Ultimately, The Miz would be defending his I.C. Title against an opponent of Bryan’s choosing in which Bryan would decide at WrestleMania. SportsKeeda is reporting that Shinsuke Nakamura would have been Intercontinental Champion his first night on the main roster.
However, John Cena agreed to the match with The Miz & Maryse on “The Grandest Stage Of Them All” which scrapped the plans for Nakamura & he was kept in NXT until post-WrestleMania.
Assuming this is all true, what are your thoughts? Do you think WWE made the right choice with Nakamuras debut or should they have went ahead with him as IC Champion?
I'm torn between both scenarios because while I personally don't think Shinsuke is as amazing as everyone makes him out to be, the match would have been leaps and bounds better than the one Miz had with Cena where just like Elimination Chamber, he was booked to look as weak as possible.
Do I think Shinsuke should have taken the IC Title off of The Miz while on Smackdown? Sure, I'm all for establishing new guys just not on his first night. The Miz has been putting on some of his best mic and ring work lately and he's only getting more distinguished so I believe he deserves better. Hopefully he doesn't get lost on RAW.

I think they went the right way with Mania Cena and Nikki getting engaged was best for business as far as media coverage and getting the show more attention. However I think what they're doing with Nakamura at the moment is kinda slow. But I feel smackdown is where he should be, and if he had won the IC title would he have been moved to raw..

Would have been cool. I was hoping they were going to have Ziggler in the ring complaining how he belonged in a higher profiled match than the BR. Have him issue an open challenge for it to be answered by Nakamura. Give them five minutes with Nakamura winning. Would have been epic for Nakamura and cool for Dolph to get a singles match.

WrestleMania's original plans sounded so much better. They went the wrong direction.

How is that even possible though with Miz not even being IC Champion at Mania this year??
Was he to win it back off Ambrose to face Nakamura then??

Cena vs Taker. Miz vs Nakamura. Sigh. I'd even have accepted Reigns beating Strowman to give him something to do if it meant getting that.

I think it would have been a cool premier but not for the IC Title.
However I prefer things the way they unfolded.

I'm just looking for somebody to take the IC belt from Dean. I can't stand his character and he doesn't act like a lunatic at all, but more of a normal guy that wears tank tops. Man they even had his match in the pre-show, and it was terrible.

Would've been a much better match, and also would've stopped Ambrose from having this dreadful IC title run. Shame it didn't happen

F#$& Kevin Dunn. It's good to know Cena actually wanted to work Taker. Daniel Bryan bringing in his old friend Shinsuke Nakamura to avenge him against Miz would have been so much better and that fued would have had some sort of pay off.
