I don't know if it's just me, but does it look like to anyone else that the new Mattel Elite 50 Rhyno is a lost prototype from Marvel/Toybiz?
With his big shoulders and legs and tons of articulation he looks like he'd fit better with my TNA Toybiz collection than my Mattel Elite one. Oh and add in the look of the new Smackdown Tag Title Belt too.
This isn't a complaint, actually the opposite, I just couldn't figure out what it was about the new Rhyno figure that had me wanting it so badly. I would really like to see them go outside the box for bodies more in the future, one thing that has bothered me about the Mattel toys is that they share so many of the same parts from wrestler to wrestler.
Any other Mattel figures that have had this weird out of place vibe to any of you guys? Any superstars you'd like to see have bold, different new body types than what we're used to?
Personally I'd really like to see them push the body moulds for John Cena and Kevin Owens, they never feel bulky enough to me.

Those ball hips on Toybiz figures are the most garbage looking thing ever. Ill probably get Rhyno and just swap the biceps. I wish the hair was better.

I loved my TNA Toybiz Rhino. I loved all the TNA Toybiz figures because I was a kid and didn't nitpick like I see countless grown adults do here on the daily.
TNA Series 1 and 2 were LIT af. Did I care Chris Harris was 8 ft. tall compared to James Storm? No. Did I care AJ Styles had a lever coming out of his back? No. Do I care Mattel's Rhyno has extremely humongous shoulders? NO.

I love how people get all riled up when we discuss certain things we dislike about our figures. Isn't this forum to discuss figures? Things aren't always going to be apples and cherries, if something isn't done right are we just supposed to let it slide and not at least voice our concerns on how these products could be better? Anyways, on to the topic... my only gripe about that Rhino figure like everyone else are the shoulders, other than that it's a pretty decent figure imo. I feel like there are certain guys that do need unique molds due to their body types, Hollywood Hogan (the man has a flabby chest yet he's giving the most overused used torso in the line), Flair (same as Hogan), Hall (don't like the use of that torso, would like to see something unique), Rude (although it's mostly the arms I didn't like on the figure, a unique upper torso and Ziggler arms would look great), Neville (torso and thicker legs), the undertaker (let's face it, he needs a bigger torso), 2001 Kane which imo was a disaster of a figure (this would of been the perfect figure to use its own unique mold, the dude looked like a tank and textured mesh would of been awesome to top off the r3). I want them to give Crow Sting a wider torso and yes I know I mention this all the time because I feel like for twenty years I've missed out classic Sting figures and there hasn't been a company to fill out what we've missed. The closest one being the Starrcade DM ,but has inaccurate boots. If they fix the Crow torso, give hawk arms and make his boots taller I'd just mark out. That's the only thing I want done to Sting figures. The current ones should use the wolfpac torso as it's more fitted and need a new boot mold with a gloss finish.

I got mine in the mail today. While I don't totally hate it, the shoulders are definitely to large. Other than that, I like the figure. I'm not going to go to all the trouble to fix them because I can live with it. I'm just happy that they are least made one. Hopefully the rumored battle pack with slater will be better in the shoulders.

These Rhyno Threads are getting out of hand now. MDT is gonna be driven away again because of this. Remember when he "Left" for awhile over the hatred over the E39 Sting head?

Later tonight I'm going to upload mine how i have him posed in my collection. That photo above does the figure no favors and when positioned differently, he looks fine in my opinion.

What happened with that head? I thought it was a decent representation. At the time, only one prototype shot of E39 Sting had leaked out and the perspective of the photo made the Sting head look squished, combined with the fact that many people were pissed they released the first modern Elite Sting in a t-shirt instead of his singlet top. Many people jumped the gun with the judgements on the head and a couple of them took it beyond constructive criticism and ended up insulting Bill's work ethic in the process. He ended up disappearing for a few months because of those 2-3 people who took it too far. The head turned out to be completely fine. The arms on this Ryhno are truly an abomination though.

Toybiz had their pluses and minuses. Great scans, typically solid paint with lots of extra details in the later series. The problem I had with Toybiz on both their TNA and Marvel Legends would be how slick tooling looked on the prototype but when they actually mass produced the figures they would look like clunky marionettes with those ugly ass hip spheres.
I think Mattel's Rhyno looks like a dream compared to Toybiz. Toybiz had a good scan but I had the figure and it sucked in most every other way. I really only dislike the giant shoulders on Rhino. If they had plugged Brock Lesnar arms into it everyone would not be as up in arms (didn't mean that to be a pun or anything).
To answer OP, since I don't think anyone did, I understand feeling stale and wanting fresh body types or bold new styles of body sculpting. Every time a new torso comes along I'm elated. I marvelled longer then I probably should have at Shinsuke's new body mold. I've even tried to imagine what WWE figures would look like if Hasbro made them. What sort of bodies and articulation would they sport? Would they be shorter like Star Wars Black and Marvel Legends? I get what you mean.
