My sons are really into wrestling. We recently started buy the figures. We only buy the basic ones. Had a question I was hoping someone could help with.
We see that in most stores now Series 70 of the figures is starting to be put out in both Walmart and Target. Looks like ToysRUs is still on Series 62. When can we expect the next series to start to show? Is there like a pattern? A new series every couple of months? Will ToysRUs eventually get caught up and make its way thru Series 63,64,etc.?
Also most stores we have been to have Series 44 and lower Battle Packs. When should this start to change? I see that some in my area were fortunate to find Series 45 but its only been in a single store.
We have checked Walmart (Seems to have biggest selection), Target (Solid selection but all seem to have same stuff), ToysRUs (Seems to be way behind) and Kmart (Looks like they never restock). Anyone have any other suggestions on where to look? We are on Long Island. Wish WrestlingFigs.com had a storefront LOL
Any help or tips would be great. Not looking to get into the Elites. My boys like to open and play but are the types they want every guy they see on Raw, Smackdown and Nxt LOL
Thanks

Unfortunately retail has been really bad for a couple of years now. On the plus side, the lead designer from mattel recently asked people to post pictures of their local WWE sections. So hopefully that means mattel is looking to work on their distribution. From my perspective, online is the best way to go, even though it takes the "thrill of the hunt" out of the equation. Either way, welcome to the world of figure collecting. I hope you and your family enjoy the new hobby.

If you open them then buying them online is your best bet and will save you a lot of time and trouble

Basic/Core line collectors have it good, the figures are regularly on sale and clearance. And since you're playing with them you can score great deals on lots of loose figures online.
As for what stores have what, that seems to depend on where you live and what your store managers want to order.
for example, this area is full of scalpers, so all the sought-after figures disappear quickly, and to top it off the scalpers damage all the packaging on the figures they leave behind so MOC collectors have to pay their outrageous prices.

I know it's not as fun as trips to the toy store for kuds, but Amazon is your best bet. They often have discounts too.
Pro-tip: Search "WWE", then filter for the following (in order if on mobile)- Toys & Games, Prime Shipping, Sold by Amazon.

Thanks for the hints and tips Anyone wanna tackle any of the questions posed on the distribution to the various stores, the lag time from release to retail and how offer retailers get in new series, do all retailers get different items? Any helpwould be great. It varies. The I have 3 Targets near me and they got nothing new for 8 months and then slowly started getting stuff after Christmas. My nearest TRUs usualky only get new stuff ever 3 months. Walmart can be as much as 6 months. It really depends on your area. Some are great like where my sister lives. Some are okay like where my parents live. Some are bad like where I live. Some are worse.

I often see figures linger for a long time in store so I think that has something to do with it as well.

I would say learn the pattern of your area. Sounds like a lot of work but it's not too bad. My stores usually stock Mondays and Thursdays. So that's when I check. It also doesn't hurt to follow others on instagram. That is how I usually figure out what's in retail.

lets all hope retail can get back to normalcy. Amazon is good, but everyone knows about it now.. so your fighting with scalpers and other folks who collect to quickly checkout ...checking daily..etc.. It can be a pain in the ass to search online also or wait for that matter. Id say fish your retail stores as much as you can. the more you buy at those stores the more likely they restock new stuff moving fwd. Espec if your back collecting older figures if there the same price online as they are at the store , buy them at your store.

Go with ebay or Amazon. You will save in the long run.

The spotty distribution was what killed it for me when I first started collecting WWE figures but sometimes you can get lucky. If you look online like ebay or amazon you can find some good deals especially loose ones on ebay. Walgreens also sell a few WWE figures as well as the usual places. But if you want the newer stuff ringside collectibles is a good online retailer to go to. While it can be pricey at times it can help you in the long run for you get the figures a month or 2 in advance of retailers who may never get that wave and save some gas and mileage.

I don't reckon there's a gaurantee that a certain series will hit your store(s).
