Like I said in the Raw thread, I think he's heading to Raw and facing Roman at Summerslam.

Interesting....
if Roman vs. Cena does happen, who do the fans cheer for??
I would think Cena would get the cheers in this one. Cena has been around for a very long time, has done so much for the WWE, and the fans outside of wrestling in general, that it would be hard not to cheer the guy on against the one guy that Vince wants us to like, in Roman Reigns.

I thought he would come back to Smackdown on July 4th to stand up for America after Jinder Mahal retains against Randy Orton? I didn't see him switching shows.
So now they're going to throw Cena under the bus to try and get Reigns over just like they did to Undertaker? A lot of major disrespect shown to long time WWE veterans by Vince McMahon in this desperate Roman Reigns failed project....
I'm surprised Vince doesn't bring back Hogan to lose to Reigns so Reigns can be the man that killed Hulkamania, ended the Cenation, and took the Yard!

I'm for almost any storyline around a Cena return as long is it isn't the usual "I love the WWE, this is my home, and I will never leave" crap he spouts for a few months before he leaves to make another straight to DVD movie or TV show.
He needs a fresh take, not necessarily the never gonna' happen heel turn, but some shift in attitude to reflect that he is an older guy with other interests who is here to cement his legacy and/or give it a go against the stars of the next generation.
Maybe John comes out to say that life is good as a 16 time champion, movie and TV star, and soon to be married man; then says he's not ready to pass the torch yet and if Reigns wants it to be his yard then he will have to take it from Cena.

I like this idea. Give Cena an edge to his character without making him a full fledged heel. He is the vet and he will be damned if someone is gonna walk in swinging their dick around.

I'm actually pretty excited about the prospect of Cena-Reigns. Been calling for that match for a couple years now. John is their top guy. They are desperate to get Roman on his level and make him their next guy. Why wouldn't they put those two together instead of beating around the bush? Sure, this match up would've been more intriguing earlier when Cena didn't already seem to have a foot out the door, but I believe this match could've done wonders for Roman Reigns, much more than (apparently) retiring the Undertaker and continually winning World Championships.
What could happen: a fierce back-and-forth match, one reaches their breaking point, then a long-awaited heel turn.
What would happen: a fierce back-and-forth match, Roman goes over, and a handshake signifies a newfound mutual respect.
What Vince wants to happen: the entire heel roster interferes in the match, match is restarted as a All-Versus-Two Handicap, and the second iteration of the Mega Powers overcome the odds.

Hope he goes to Raw because he was out of place on Smackdown.

John isn't going to RAW... he'll be doing double duty, for sure. Appearing on both RAW and SDL, wrestling here and there.
No way McMahon passes up the opportunity to have American hero Cena defend America and defeat the evil foreigner Jinder Mahal.

Cena vs Reigns at Summerslam would be huge.

I was under the impression we would get John Cena vs Roman Reigns at a Wrestlemania for the Title. I still feel like this will be the case, but they may feel they need to hotshot it now as they're struggling. It would make sense seeing as Cena is due back, and it would be a good moment to see him interrupt Reigns. I wouldn't put it past Roman Reigns vs Goldberg for Summerslam though.

I think they will tease it but Braun Strowman will interrupt. John Cena versus Braun Strowman for Summerslam and John Cena versus Jinder Mahal at the same event. Just double book him since you want him on both brands. That way both shows have a big name. Honestly, just move Cena to Raw so they will win the ratings against Smackdown, but I believe they will find out that Smackdown will still win. Raw ratings will increase and it's because of the NBA finals and Stanley Cup being over, not because of Cena. They still find a way to give Cena all the credit. Cena is only good for ticket sells, he hasn't been a good draw in years. If he was they wouldn't feel the need to bring in guys every year for big events. They would just ride Cena, but he's no Hogan. The times have changed simple enough. Cena turns heel against Roman. Cena becomes the top face in the company in the fan's eyes. Simple enough. Roman if he turned heel he would get faces over big time. Braun was getting positive reaction every time he beat down Roman. When he costed him the title against Owens, Braun made top 5 pops of the night on most review sites. Roman and Cena being heels could put over a lot of talent who aren't getting over now.

I would love to see Cena vs Reigns. I think it's inevitable. But IMO... save it for Wrestlemania. This would deserve months of build & SummerSlam is too soon.
