In the latest episode of "Table for 3," Maryse and Kelly Kelly missed the term "WWE Diva" while Eve Torres wasn't a fan of the moniker. The reason that the WWE ditched the term "WWE Diva," was to focus more on athleticism than sex appeal and as a result, the recent female talents came from independent circuits rather than modeling agencies thanks in large part to Triple H who replaced John Laurinaitis several years ago. Thoughts?

That athletic wrestling has really paid off too for the WWE, with how they booked the female MITB match, and the horrendous booking lately on Raw with their ladies.
They may as well kept the word 'diva' around. At least they still get some use of it for Total Divas.

It was WWE moving with the times. Not saying that any of them couldn't have done what the ladies now are doing but thats not what they were hired for back them. Remember that when Maryse, Eve, Layla, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly, and others got hired, they really didn't have any wrestling experience. But they were hired for their looks, so if any of them tried to debut in todays era, with what little knowledge they had back then, they'd be eaten alive by the crowd, much like Eva Marie was.

It was the right move. The "divas" really brought nothing but like they said sex appeal. If they would have came in as managers or something and then got trained I may have been able to get behind them more.

BTW, did you see Carmella's promo on SmackDown today? It was one of the best IMO.

Im not a big fan of women's wrestling. Dont get me wrong. I 100% believe that women have a role to play in the wrestling world. But this idea that women are just as good as the men is a farce. If that was true, WWE would have their own GLOW. If that was true, the WNBA would draw as well as the NBA. But people in this PC world are just too afraid to say it.
There some things in this world that men are just better at. There are some things in this world that women are just better at. This isnt about equality....its just about the fact of life. I have zero desire to see women brutalize one another or go through tables, etc. No interest in a woman's Hell In A Cell or a MITB ladder match. At the same token, I dont yearn for the days of Kelly Kelly, Maryse, McCool, Eve Torres, etc. My favorite period in women's wrestling was Trish, Lita, Jacqueline, Ivory, etc. Capable women that could entertain in the ring, ooze sex appeal and add to the product as occasional mixed tag partners, targets of affection, etc.
Im shocked at how much bellyaching has occurred over the women's MITB match the other night. While I would rather see Becky win personally...the way it ended with Carmella and Ellsworth drew some great heat and set things up nicely on an entertainment scale. Now due to all the bitching about how unfair it was to the women to have the match end that way...they change things up. Has anyone ever watched wrestling? This is a classic heel move. I loved how she presented her case tonight as well. Listing how men's matches ended like Seth getting help from Kane to win MITB.
WWE has a great crop of women. Some are great in the ring workers. Some are great to look at. Some are great entertainers. And some fall into the middle. Not everyone has to be Charlotte. Not everyone has to be Alexa Bliss. Lets have each woman be used to her strengths. Maryse's strength is to go out there look good and help draw heat for Miz. She does an excellent job at that. Charlotte's job is to go out there and work her ass off in the ring. Alexa Bliss's job is to go out there and entertain the crowd.
Equality is a pipe dream...a fantasy. And the reason so isnt 100% due to the hate that lies in this world. Instead the majority can be attributed to the idea of equality parading about in disguise. Because in reality, "equality" is the sheep and "superiority" is the wolf wearing the sheep's skin.

Of course Maryse and Kelly would miss that term, they were two of the biggest problems of the division back then....
