That's cool. I feel like MSG shows should be special and Styles winning a title at MSG feels special to me.

I remember the last time the titles changed hands at a house show (the WWE Tag Team Championship), it was because of Evan Bourne's Wellness suspension, I wonder if Kevin Owens violated the Wellness Policy? Hmm... No. It's because it was at MSG, it's because it was Styles wrestling there, and it's because they need to continue to up house show sales so giving that unpredictability can do so.

I was at the show and I was pleasantly surprised! I hope he has a long title reign. I hope he doesn't drop it back to Owens at Battleground.
Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Cedric Alexander, and Bayley all made their MSG debuts last night.

Probably because it was at the Garden. WWE always likes to make those shows a little extra special every now and then.

Should of let him win on the 4th of July.
Anyway, I am glad AJ won another title in WWE.

this is completely out of left field.....i mean, good for AJ but i dont understand why they do stuff like this....like, house shows are literally just "face wins", time filler stuff. so whats the point of the PPV match now? Owens gets his rematch at the PPV.

AJ should be the WWE Champ. He's the most over face in the company. When Austin was killing it in '98-01 we didn't see the WWE saddle him with the IC or Euro Titles. AJ is above a midcard title. During the Two Man Power Trip Austin held the tag titles with Triple H. Also, Triple H held the IC title at that time and lost a match to the Brooklyn Brawler. Titles are a thing where either the guy makes the title or the title makes the guy. I'd argue that right now the US title is the biggest title on Smackdown. The guys in the US title picture are often what's driving the show. It's usually either them or the women. I would say Owens and AJ give credibility to the US title while the WWE title gives credibility to Jinder.

So Owens will probably win it back tonight/tomorrow. Becoming a 3-time United States Champion within 3-4 months. I love both guys, but this is ridiculous.

SDL have Live Events in Corpus Christi tonight (where I expect Owens to regain the strap) and Hidalgo tomorrow night.

Smackdowns mid card is rotting away in the locker room while main eventers are feuding over the US title. Owens and AJ should be battling for the world title.

You almost forgot, Smackdown's resident jobber has the top title in the company. This is super cool for AJ, and for the crowd in attendance. I'm totally fine with them doing this every once in a great while. It makes house shows seem like they can important. With all that said, Smackdown is such a jumbled mess with talent being where they shouldn't be that it's hard to really care all that much.

WWE posted this video of AJ Styles winning the WWE United States Title from Kevin Owens at Friday's Madison Square Garden LIVE event. Styles captured the title after a Styles Clash and a Phenomenal Forearm. Despite it saying there are alternate angles of the title change - the only angle is from a handheld camera that was at ringside.

So KO lose the NXT title at a house show, he then loses the Universal in a squash match against a 50 year old man and now the US title at a house show aswell. Great way to treat young stars.

He was booked spectacularly as NXT champion. I'd avtually argue he hasn't been booked as well since. He also lost it to someone who would turn out to be the longest reigning NXT champion ever.
