This doesn't limit elbow movement, it will minorly improve it. The bicep will remain facing forward as you turn the arm inward. Sometimes characters like John Cena and Triple H who have huuuuuge biceps actually have the biceps block and hinder turning arms in. This is gonna prevent that.
Everyone is going off half-cocked about something they don't even understand. I can't even talk about it to calm people because it seems that what people like myself and PJ in this thread are mentioning is falling on deaf ears. Let's all take a deep breath.
The arms only look bad because the sculpting is kind of underwhelming. They had a chance to resculpt the arms and make them more realistic but instead chose to simply use the old sculpt file and tool it differently. That's why the shoulder looks weird. There should be some better sculpting where the muscles connect if you ask me. Articulation is not going to suffer on the arms but actually slightly improve. The problem is going to be an aesthetic one.
The ankles are honestly a deep blow to me. I do some perspective illusion with my basics to make the legs seem less vanilla and boring on display and the ankles are crucial. Gonna be a lot more balancing and praying they don't fall with this new style.

I love this. It's the first step in the death march of the basic line.

I had a play around with the jerry Lawler basic last night following the news and I'm able to do every pose I could do previously and he has elbow swivel too. The boots, like I said, are a good thing to me, so many loose ankles are a pain.
The ONLY draw back is the hit to part swapping and for some I guess an aesthetic decision.
But seriously, have a go with mankind/Lawler etc... Its fine.

Come on lol, we need to move on.
Bottom line is we didn't lose any arm articulation and how many of you used the ankle articulation without feeling it was going to snap off?

Hopefully Bill will demonstrate how the new arms work with one and also explain why some new basics will still come with the old joints still. I guess those where in production before the change was made. I'll buy one of the new basics when it hits retail or something cheap and try it out just to see. I am not a big basic line collector anyway but I do collect battle packs since that's the only way to get most tag teams. Elite tag teams take to long to produce and I hate waiting over a year or longer for elite tag teams.

I dont understand how the articulation from the shoulder being moved to the elbow? The elbow had articulation. What can it do more now and how is that ok for the shoulder? It is like the Multiverse Arrow or SW Black figures now. So the elbow now has a hinge and swivel Now I understand. But the figure will not be spread its arms out like to measure wing span. Isnt that a KEY piece of articulation over an ab crunch or ankle pivot or double hinged knees?

agreed, we're going to need to see some pictures first Here is the pic. Look close at the biceps. View AttachmentLook at the elbow.

The shoulder will still be ball jointed. It is just the first cut joint under the shoulder ball is now in the elbow so the elbow is both hinged and swivels.

This is going to make customizing arms a real pain.
Not a fan.

From the posts Ive seen, this isnt bothering anyone except people that only collect wwe figures. Mainly bacause they've never had another figure in their hands that had this articulation and realize its just the same, just moved.

No. Just realise there are people who collect basics and not elites. So many psychiatrists on here though.

I love this. It's the first step in the death march of the basic line. I dont think Basics will be cancelled because of this, but it definitely ensures Jakks UFC will continue outselling Mattel WWE.

If I understand correctly, and please correct me if I'm wrong.
Basics prior to SDCC '17 were able to turn 360 degrees at the top of the bicep and the elbow only moved up and down 90 degrees like? Basics after SDCC '17 are able to turn 360 degrees at the elbow and the elbow still moves up and down 90 degrees like?
So the swivel is now at the bottom of the bicep and incorporates the elbow bend? Can someone tell me what's so bad about this? It doesn't seem that bad as I understand it.

It is like the Multiverse Arrow or SW Black figures now. So the elbow now has a hinge and swivel To be fair, those Multiverse suffer from outdated articulation. So much so that highly respected youtube reviewers never recommend them, unless for Jay C. He's a fan boy for all things DC. I can't say much about the Black series, I don't collect star wars.
