Well.. i'll tell you one thing, if No Mercy was on the PS1 it would of sold ALOT more copies & become even more popular than it was on the N64, my reason for that is the fact that every kid back in that generation owned a PS1 over the N64, it was the "cool" console at the time. Growing up, I must of been one of the few kids at my school that owned an N64, all my friends had the shiny & glorious PS1 playing their Crash Bandicoots while scoffing at peasants like me. To this day, I die happy knowing that we had the legendary AKI games on team 64. Agree that PS1 was more popular but I feel sad that people scoffed at your N64. Where I was, the N64 was considered much better (because it was imo), its just that it wasn't as affordable as the PS1.

I find that funny you mention PlayStation being more popular around you. Growing up everyone I knew had Nintendo 64 over PlayStation. My cousin was the only person I knew that had a PlayStation at the time. That's how it was most everywhere. PS1 was a solid console that did well but Sony didn't really hot their stride until PS2 imo. I ended up getting a ps2 the year it came out. I had that system until the 360 hit. I still really enjoy many PlayStation 1. games

I could be wrong about that though.

Fun fact: The PS1 almost became a Nintendo console before they opted to go with the 64 and then it almost was a Sega console (I believe they went with the Saturn instead) before Sony decided to put it out on their own.

Would WrestleMania 2000/No Mercy have been able to run on the PS1? If so, then the other benefits of disc over cartridge would've made it even more awesome. And we'd have never had the SmackDown series.

And the load times would have been horrendous on disc as well.

I know, topics old.. but thq/Aki made a game for PS1. It was WCW vs. The World, same engine that was later used for Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy.
