Here's my reply to a similar thread from March. A few years back, 2006 to be exact, I was dating this girl. At the time, I was living with my Uncle and Aunt. I told the girl that I have something to show her, that others might feel embarrassed about. I, myself, was not embarrassed by it, but I wasn't 100% sure how she would react to it. So I took her to my room, and the first thing she sees is my CD collection. I have over 300 CDs, with a wide variety of genres. She said, "is this what you're talking about??" I said, "no...", and proceeded to take out 2 boxes from my closet. I open the boxes and show her my 20 kids sized Jakks WWE Championship Title Belts. She asked, "so, you're Wrestling fan??" We've been married since 2007, and she has 4 Championship Title Belts of her own. Moral of the story is, buy a Championship Title Belt!!

Be yourself. If someone doesn't want to date you because of your hobbies then do you REALLY want to date them? If someone makes a joke, just laugh and say, well I enjoy it. Honestly, in today's age, collecting toys is not all that unusual compared to 20-25 years ago when I was in high school. I'm 42, and a good portion of my friends have some kind of nerdy collection or hobby.

If you can't tell your girlfriend who you want to spend your days with, how will that work out? She's eventually going to know. My friends know and joke and laugh but it's all in good fun. Some of my friends are into the car thing and spend their money on that. I don't judge them and they don't judge me.

Why would you want to be friends with or in a relationship with anyone who is going to judge you, react negatively to, or base if they want to be with you on a hobby of yours that makes you happy?
If somebody thinks it's that big of a deal, honestly, they aren't worth your time. It's your hobby. It's what makes you happy. It doesn't hurt anybody else.
Anybody that would want you to give that up, in my opinion, isn't the right kind of person.

Why tf would you keep this hobby a secret
I hate how people always say you can't get girl friends if you collect figures I've had a few gf's that all knew I collect Orton merch now married
Be a man and show you're a fan don't hide that you like something
So don't listen to people and if a girl judges you for a hobby is there any point being with that girl or having friends like that
You live once so enjoy it the right people won't judge you

This week, I'm moving into my girlfriends house and she has given me her finished basement for a wrestling man cave.
The moral of my point is, despite her not being a wrestling fan, she supports my interests. Anyone who would do the opposite isn't worth your time.

My girl takes me on "hunts", she'll call me if shes out and sees something I might need. She helps me dust my figs.
As Ive gotten older, my circle of friends has gotten smaller. So the friends I have now are all into it. Some people in my life that are on the periphery think its weird a 35 year old guy collects toys, but I dont care. Its fun. Its harmless. Dont let others dictate what you wanna do, or what makes you happy.

The area I live in doesn't have people that collect toys so they kinda call it weird etc
I'm not sure if I'm going to keep collecting while in college I'll probably stop by then, but do whatever you want. Don't let anyone stop you with what you like to do. Also, don't take jokes to heart

I get what you're saying. I would've been fine with the collecting. Everybody here has only said collecting. I have my collection and my girlfriend knows about it. I don't tell her sometimes I play with them and that I have a bunch of rings and weapons I sometimes pull out. I understand it might be difficult when you bring your friends or a girl over and they see your arena set up and camera. I would be embarrassed a bit. It's like a kid's room when a woman wants a mans room (what society thinks a man's room should be). This comes down to who your true friends are and which girl is right for you. They will understand if they care about you. Although, 1 night stands may be shot down at your apartment. Lol. Good luck man. Right now you're young so you are more concerned about others. As you get older, it doesn't matter. You do you.

All I can say is do what makes you happy and the rest just falls into place. There's no point in pretending to be someone you're not because you'll just make yourself unhappy that you can't do the things you enjoy most. The people who you will get along best with are those who are cool with your hobbies right from the start so there's no point in hiding them. "Those who matter don't mind. And those who mind don't matter."
If I hid my collection from everyone and didn't get involved, I'd never have done much on here and never met some of my greatest friends. Also, you'd be surprised at just how many girls are as nerdy as we are when it comes to collecting stuff. I can't go a day on facebook without at least a couple of them geeking out about Beauty and the Beast or Harry Potter stuff that they've found in a shop.

I was always embarrassed to show my toy collection as well, but over the years a lot of people have come to liking and looking at my collection. They ask a few questions of how I started and stuff and then they forget about it and we just hang out as usual.

Collecting action figures is a part of who you are. Be proud of your hobby, no matter who doesn't like it.

It is an insecurity, but a fair one at your age. I'm insecure about a lot, the best thing to do is just realize that this is who you are and what you do, some people won't understand and that's fine. The people who understand and respect it are the ones worth keeping in your life. I'm friends with die hard football fans of teams that I genuinely hate, and they hate the team I support. We all accept that we are different and we like different things, but we still get along with some good banter. Collecting stuff and nerd culture overall is a 'thing' now. A trend. So it's really nothing to be ashamed of. I see more girls in Pokemon shirts and wearing Zelda caps than I see posh chicks in their £2000 dresses on a Friday evening.

Alright alright alright. Question for us guys.
You meet a girl and want to date her, (I don't think 1 night stands matter here because we are easy and will do it). So if you go to her apartment, and her room room is covered in Barbie/some collectible stuff and has a setup with the dream house, car, all the accessories put together like she was playing with them, would you be ok with it?
Remember you just started dating. Oh and a camera set up so she can upload playing, Barbie story to the internet. Equivalent to stop motion pic fed. This is more of what the OP is asking. We all answered for the girls we met in our lives. What if you didn't collect. It might be harder at first

You may enjoy sharing your love of wwe with your child(ren) in the future so building up the collection now can be justified. This is why I started collecting and I wished I started before my son was ready because we missed out on some good ones.

My girl is a huge Harry Potter nut and loves everything Lord of the Rings and The Walking Dead. She was embarrassed of her collection and I was a bit insecure about my wrestling collection because I thought it might seem odd that I had amassed so much in a short time after my house fire. My reaction to her Harry Potter collection was, and I quote "that is ing awesome!" I was actually jealous of her LOTR and TWD collection and no longer the slightest bit insecure. It's all about finding the right person for you and not settling for anything less. You only live once and life is already to short, enjoy it as much as you can!

You do you, if people really are your friends they will be cool with it. If not then you don't need those people in your life.
