Sadly a lot of the missing Hasbro era names are either in the concussion suit or havent even got an elite yet.

I think the retros are great. I agree the quality of the packaging isn't as good as the hasbros but it doesn't bother me because I am not keeping them moc!
I'd love to see them start doing famous matches 2 packs. The one I want most is;
Bret Hart (without shades) vs HBK (without shades)- Wrestlemania 12 Iron Man Match

I'd love to see a Warrior v Macho Man 2 pack personally. I'd be shocked if we got these though but you never know. I sometimes think it would be much less stressful to collect this particular line 'loose' instead of MOC. The cards are pretty dire and it's near on impossible to find one in top condition as I have to order them online over here. I hope to have a loose collection as well, though.

At least depending on how many series come out, there should be more part options available for customs when the run is done. I'm going to try to get at least 3 of each that comes out, 1 loose, 1 MOC and 1 to possibly get custom card backs made that look nicer.

That's the great thing about the current age, we can actually get decent quality custom cards made now. The Retro's would look great on a high quality Hasbro card. I know the colours may not fit quite as well as the old Hasbro cards, with the difference in skin tone on the Warrior figure, for example. Maybe darker cards with more detail would work better, like the Series 10 Hasbro dark blue ones.

I love this line. I really hope it continues. Bill said somewhere it was doing really well and rings etc were a possibility.

Hopefully if a ring is released it will be sooner rather than later. Ideally along with Series 3 in early 2018!

I agree, the new Mattel retros are a bit of a missed opportunity I think. The card design and quality (thickness) is horrible, they could have made it so much nicer. And the figures just seem slightly off. I think they've tried to copy the style so closely but they do look like inferior versions, even more cartoony than the originals.

That card quality and design is definitely a let down. No doubt about that. Also, the length of The Rocks legs, for example, does leave you a bit baffled! I think us fans that have waited so long for a line like this, in particular Hasbro collectors, are willing and to accept all these flaws so long as they keep the line going. Fingers crossed the design team get it right for the next few Series!

I love the idea of these, and have followed their development closely since finding out about them, but I have yet to buy any. I keep going between thinking that "I'm too old for these things/I don't have the space for them/I'm still away from completing the Hasbros, etc." and "Damn these are so cool, I want them I want them I want them!"
I visited my local Smyths for the first time ever once these started appearing over here intending to buy some (probably the lot TBH) but the store had plastered every single one of them with massive price stickers that seemed impossible to remove without damaging the cards, so in the end I didn't get any of them. I've collected MOC Hasbros too long clearly...
Has anyone ordered from Smyths online? Am I right in thinking that the figures I'd get from them would be clean, without price stickers? I'd assume so but obviously don't know how they operate.

I'd assume so but obviously don't know how they operate. I am exactly the same when it comes to MOC's! I have the Hasbro collection MOC and was very particular in what cards I'd buy. First things first, the Retro cards and bubbles are not the same quality as the Habro ones are, so it's much harder to find MINT examples. I did order a couple of these from Smyths a few weeks back and, personally, I wasn't massively impressed with the condition they arrived in. This is only my experience though and I imagine there are lots of other collectors that have had them arrive in decent shape. I just found they weren't packed well and had clearly been banging around the box in transit. As they are a huge chain, I get the impression they just want to get the figures out to people in good time and don't really have an invested interest for MOC collectors as that's not really their business. Obviously, this is the opposite of when buying from a fellow collector.

Oh and yes, they didn't have the price stickers on them, which was a plus.

Thanks; it's only a matter of time until I crack and order them, but ideally I'd have liked to select them myself in store to satisfy my neurotic obsession. I actually thought whilst looking at them in store about what a shame it was to see otherwise perfect cards ruined by those monsterous price stickers I did regret not asking any staff if they had any stock not on display without the stickers. I was in the US last month but couldn't get to a Walmart so didn't have the chance to pick-up any there. Reigns and Owens I had thought of trying to track down, but I'm heading back there around Xmas so hopefully I get a second chance with them without having to resort to eBay.

They are brilliant and I'm glad I've got my hands on them already! I know what you mean about buying them in store, that was my aim at the start so that it would be inkeeping with all the nostalgia! Unfortunately, I can't wait until they get them in (my local Smyths hasn't had one in yet!). The stickers do take something away from the appearance for me, as well, they're not too subtle! Fingers crossed there are still some of Series 1 left by the time you return to the States, Series 3 should have been up and running for some time by then, mind.

Absolutely; the feeling I got walking into Smyths and seeing all the figures on display really took me back to the days of the Hasbros - I fondly remember the day I walked through Toys R Us towards the aisle where they had the Hasbros to check if they had had any new ones in, turned the corner into the aisle and saw the mass of people in the middle of it reacting to the glorious glow of the series 7 figures: there they all were, the figures I'd been drooling over in the WWF Magazine for months - the figures looked so bright and beautiful; and the cards were yellow!! YELLOW!! I remember being amazed, and walking into Smyths and seeing the Retros displayed together did stir me slightly

haha... Antisocial and Taylor.... I totally agree, great memories and share that same experience of going into Toys R US and being so surprised and excirted to see the new Yellow cards, I got Kamala that day haha.
I am also in UK (Essex) and i regularly buy things from Smyths, mainly because it's local. The sticker are very annoying but they do come off with care, sometimes you need a bit of sticky tape to remove some left over residue, but i've laways managed to remove the sticker without any damage, however due to the quality of the mattel retro cards, I am yet to try it on those, and like you am on the fence about buying them. If I do, I will only get the golden era figs, Warrior and Undertaker etc and hopefully they'll release more classic figs from the 90's. I want Savage in his classic 90's all-in-one suit but without the hat and jacket like the Hasbro version.
Also, every time I've been to Smyths with the temptation to buy one, all the cards are damaged and you guys are right... the blister bubbles are super thin and just poor quality, very dissapointing as I sit here looking at my carded Hulkaplex figure.
Ps... do you guys know how to post pics on these threads? I just joined the forum yesterday and have tried but failed, doesn't seem to work like normal.

Good stuff! I'm also hoping for as many Hasbro era guys as possible. That Macho Man would be awesome! The cards and bubbles aren't great, unfortunately. I upload my photos via photobucket and it works well. There are other methods, too, that other members may be able to shed some light on. P.S. Welcome to the forums!
