I'd be happy with...
January: New Year's Revolution - single brand January: Royal Rumble - dual brand February: Elimination Chamber - single brand March: Fastlane - single brand April: WrestleMania - dual brand May: Backlash - single brand May: Extreme Rules - single brand June: Money in the Bank - dual brand July: Great American Bash - single brand July: Breaking Point - single brand August: SummerSlam - dual brand September: King of the Ring - single brand October: Hell in a Cell - single brand November: Survivor Series - dual brand December: TLC - single brand
With the single brand shows alternating from Raw to SmackDown each year.

I'd like to see them space out PPVs more in theory, but they can barely book a feud to go from month to month as it is. I fear that if we had one PPV a month switching off between Raw and Smackdown, that we'd just get two months of the same TV matches instead of one.

Keep the big four. Maybe bump that up to six. Maybe. Have each brand take turns headlining the shows. On the "off months" let each brand have its WWE Network Special Event. Basically like what In Your House was when it first started. Keep the brands separate except for the Royal Rumble match and maybe some inter-brand matches at WrestleMania. I think KOTR should be inter-brand too. They could do that one of two ways:
Have each match be inter-brand or have a tournament on each brand and the winners wrestle at the PPV.
What do you guys think?

One a month, no more than twelve per year. 17-19 a year is such over saturation in a company that has spread itself way too thin to even think of doing this. ONE. A. MONTH.
No need to have individual show PPVs as they are largely hastily put together just to have filler. Every show can be mixed so there's time to build feuds and they have meaning behind them. I don't need to see entire rosters each PPV, I need quality over quantity. If I don't see such and such superstar at January's PPV and then I see him in February's I am just fine.
Stop. With. The. Pre-Show. Matches. It was nice when they were matches that were shown on other platforms and promoted as such to entice you to order the PPV or subscribe to the Network because they might have slightly been good enough to entice people to watch them, but all I see is a garbage throw away match that you can tell has to be exactly six minutes or the Crusierweight matches. And don't tell me "there's still time to order" when its only shown on the Network, if I'm watching it on the Network that means I have a subscription or a free trial and I'll be watching it. Either do like the UFC and their preliminaries and have up-and-comers or NXT matches, but don't just throw together some garbage match for filler. (***Unless I am oblivious and they still show matches on things like YouTube or else where for free).
Stop making the PPVs like glorified Raw episodes without commercials. You've already given me the match on Raw or Smackdown most likely, or something VERY close to it, don't give me the official match on a PPV like its a big deal. And can I add, stop having rematches the next night on Raw, the PPVs are supposed to come off like special events, if that's where a feud ends, let it end, stop beating a dead horse.
Bring back classic stipulations to PPV themes. Make the time between entrants in a Royal Rumble, two full minutes again so the entire Rumble lasts at least one hour. Make the Survivor Series a SERIES of team matches, if the entire show was four matches of four vs. four teams that would be rad as hell. Don't just give me one Raw vs. Smackdown match, that is lame. Bring back the King of the Ring and have qualifier matches on the PPV, I don't want to see just the main event on the PPV, I want at least the semi finals on the card, I can see WWE doing everything on Raw leading up to it and then just putting one match on the PPV.
If WWE at least starts with the basics, that would be a good start. Less is more. Less is more. Less is more. Less is more. Less is more. Less is more. Less is more. Less is more. Less is more. Less is more. Less is more.

A few people have said this already but
January - Royal Rumble February - No Way Out (SD) March - April - WrestleMania April - BackLash (Raw) May - Judgement Day (SD) June - Vengeance (Raw) July - The Great American Bash (SD) August - SummerSlam September - Unforgiven (Raw) October - No Mercy (SD) November - Survivor Series December - Armageddon (Raw)
There was nothing wrong with this format and I still don't understand why wwe changed it.
As for the ppv events they have today, Elimination Chamber would be at no way out, mitb would be at WrestleMania, and tlc and hell in a cell would be used when they are necessary for a feud.
