Hi guys
I'm just getting into Wcw after always being a wwf guy. Specifically the nitro 96/97 - 2000 years
Who made the figures during this time and which are the best for look and also play
Looking around online there seems to be loads of series during these years from different manufacturers
Do any mesh well with Mattel size wise etc?
What figs would you recommend - looking for series with the likes of Bret hart, nwo, sting, vampiro, etc

During that era first Original San Francisco ToyMakers (OSFTM) had the license, they had different types of figures: first LJN-like 7" rubber figures, then 6.5" figures with an action, the forgettable 6.5" vibrating figures and 4.5" movable figures. Later Toybiz/Marvel had the license, they had scaled figures with an action that kind of fit in with Mattel figures.

The toy biz/marvel seem like the ones I'd be after - what's the general thoughts on these? You don't hear them talked about like you do other brands - are they mostly forgettable?

I'd say they're underrated, also the Bash at the Beach series, the Nitro Active series and the TNT series are quite a challenge to find.

Cool I'm gonna check some stuff out then - I think some Wcw stuff was more popular in the uk due to it being on free to and WWE being on sky / cable so hopefully I might find some good stuff
Any particular series which stands out as worth starting with

The Toybiz Buff Bagwell is still one of my favourite figures to this day.

Yeah, definitely WCW Toybiz. If you're interested, I did an entire video about the inaugural Toybiz line, Smash N Slam. It's my personal favorite series they did. Your main Toybiz sets to look out for are the aforementioned Smash N Slam, Slam N Crunch, Power Slam, and Bruisers. Some of the later ones are worth looking into (especially if you want Vampiro), but by that point production slowed down immensely as WCW was fading out. They have a few original characters in those lines.

I used to have a Giant and his accessory was Rey Mysterio Jr.,who had like an extendable neck. When you push the legs together (I think) giant grabs Rey by the neck and chokeslams him. It was awesome.

It was awesome. In the first series Rey was included in a non-flattering way; he came as a rubber accessory for the Giant (in white with an extendable neck) as well as a rubber accessory for Goldberg (in 2 variants even: red or blue)

It doesn't appear in mobile (and I think you can disable sigs in the options via web). You can just search for "Smash N Slam" and it should pop up near the top. I'm "Wrestling Figure Legacy"

Delta_Zero did a good job with the video. I collected through most of this line. My biggest regret with it was that they were a little scattered rather than keeping one consistent line. But through the series we had some gems. A shame WCW went off the rails as I'm curious had they survived what would have happened to the toy line. Maybe ended up with Hasbro? Man...
