If he is successful in retaining?
I can't think of another face not AJ Styles who would be ready right now.

If he retains, then he's got AJ and Cena to feud with.

As I have said previous I don't want Nakamura to win at Sunday because I believe he needs a lot more work done before winning the title.
I would love nothing more than for AJ to challenge for the title but personally I can see Cena being the next in line.

Oh Jinder will retain. I honestly don't see Nakamura winning the WWE Title. Vince is just cashing in on the fact the New York fans love Nakamura, so put him in the WWE Title match.
Nakamura should just feud with Zayn, Owens, and Styles. I am sure those are the guys the fans want to see him feud with anyhow.

I don't foresee Jinder winning. Least not cleanly to end the feud. I suspect Nakamura will win and carry it to WM where he will wrestle AJ.
But I'm more curious about where Jinder goes after he loses. Does he go back down the bottom of the card like Swagger? Does he linger in the upper-mid like Ziggler? Or is he a certified main eventer for now on? Been thinking about it since Tuesday, and I honestly have no idea.

I think both these guys are in a really weird spot. They've hot shotted Nakamura to the top for the most part on the main roster, and he's yet to look really strong or really impress since his arrival on Smackdown. I understand why (Nak is popular and they're low on main event faces on the Blue brand) but I don't think this match has any upside, and it's certainly not the biggest match they could've offered for the WWE title (just like last year).
Jinder has really stepped it up over the months, but I see quite the drop down the card once he loses the WWE title. I wouldn't be surprised to see him join the ranks of Ziggler, Swagger, Del Rio and so many others who held a World title only to become irrelevant months later. I think Jinder deserves better than that, but with the way guys like Ambrose, Rollins, Balor and Wyatt are being handled right now having only been world champions a year or less ago, I definitely can't see Jinder fairing better than them (if he fairs that well at all)

back to the midcard where he should have been for at least a few months before winning the WWE Championship

Isn't Cena going to be filming a movie really soon? When is he leaving and if so will he not be back until 2018? Well, it's a Transformers movie and not some straight to dvd WWE studios piece of crap so it should have a full shooting schedule plus reshoots later to fix stuff instead of three weeks of first takes and we're outta here. I would imagine that once he leaves to start filming he will be gone for at least three months, maybe longer.

Not entirely sure how it works but I don't think it takes super long. Also, I'm pretty sure a lot of it could be done remotely. WWE has recording equipment. He might not even need to take off at all for all we know.

I hadn't heard that but if true, then his time off would be much less, possibly arranged so that he misses only a random show here or there so that it doesn't feel like he is even gone. Now I'm depressed... See what you did?

Never was super into Transformers even as a kid.

Since he's now a former world champion, he is good to use to get someone else over, like they do with Ziggler and Sheamus.

As I have said previous I don't want Nakamura to win at Sunday because I believe he needs a lot more work done before winning the title. . I'm dreading this match for that reason, I like Nakamura a lot but I dont think he's ready for the world title yet, I feel his matches are very hit and miss, but I think if he looses and gets a rematch and loses again like it'll kill his momentum like when Ryback got thrown into the title picture, he wasnt ready, lost a match which killed his momentum and then the fans lose interest. Nakamura's first big PPV match cant result in a loss. Mahal has made this angle work in a way but I'm kinda ready for him to drop the title, and see where he goes from there, sometimes the title makes the man and without the gold he's nothing (Del Rio kinda thing, unless he's world champion hes nothing all that interesting)

If he loses I'm sure 95% of this place would want him fired.

I doubt the Nakamura feud is going to be a one match series.
AJ seems like the only other viable option should he win the feud with Jinder. Cena is moving to Raw after Summerslam and will be taking time off in the fall, I'm sure.
