After about two weeks of hunting I was finally able to get my hands on the new TNF Seth Rollins figure. I'm not sure if anybody experiences this but Seth Rollins figures, specifically the elites, go by very quickly in my area. I never saw E37 at stores, and luckily the only times I saw the TRU exclusive and E45 in stores I bought them immediately.
The box is cool, and I love that Mattel puts forth the effort to make their exclusives look different from the standard waves. The box has a nice description of Rollins' return on the back but I'm kind of confused because this is listed as "now", but American Alpha was listed as "then" even though all three figures are based on a somewhat similar time-frame, give or take 2 months. But anyways, let's get to the review!
So my main issue with this figure is the head, it's so bad. I tried to give it a chance because sometimes figures look better in-hand than in picture. But this is certainly not the case. I'm not a fan of open-mouth scans because they usually don't look good and it makes this face looks soooo cartoonish, and it's even worse because it doesn't even look like Rollins. Also, because of the awkward head mold, the head doesn't move up and down correctly as the chin kinda hangs low and points towards the chest. But man, this head is bad bad bad bad bad! I will definitely do a head-swap. Kind of disappointed because E52 has the same head and it's a shame because the attire is awesome.
As for the rest of the figure, I can appreciate the paint-work and detail. But after 5 elite releases, they still give this figure the tiny, puny legs. Come on MDT, you have the correct leg mold and you refuse to use it! They can easily use the legs they use for Zayn, Punk and Jericho but they don't, big disappointment. The figure also stands wayyyy too short compared to other figures, and has been for the past 5 releases. That's simply unacceptable. The detail on the vest is very nice and colored to perfection. I like the detail on the wrist-bands as well, the small printing is a nice touch. The torso is also suitable, and I'm happy they finally gave him chest hair. As for the accessory, it's another wwe title. It's nice, but I feel like we've gotten this soooo many times already in previous releases.
To finally close, this figure is not that good at all. If you have any previous Rollins figures, I think you should hold-off on this release unless you really want an updated Rollins figure. Every elite Rollins is super inaccurate and I really think they should go back to the drawing board and retool his elites because they aren't that good. Please Mattel, Redesign, Rebuild.....and Release a better Seth Rollins figure! You guys are more than capable of doing it. I expect better.
Overall: 6.5/10
