Anyone using MoviePass? Seems like a no-brainer if you go to the movies at least once a month. For those that don't know, you pay $10.00 a month and you can see one movie a day at participating theaters.

I want to buy 4 monthly passes for gifts, but they won't say how to do it, and no phone number from what I see, just an email that seems to robo respond. It may take some time with the new owners to make full use of all the consumers want. AMC gave them so much exposure, they could and should capitalize big time. I wish the best for them.

I want to wait for a few months to a year and see how many people have their identities stolen or something.
When something seems like too good a deal...

I've had it for a little over two years now. I paid $24/month for the first year, and $30/month since then. It was worth it for me at both prices, and I can only recall one month where I didn't come out ahead.
I've never had an issue with the card being accepted, and I only needed to call them once when the check-in feature wouldn't work. Other than that, it's been smooth sailing. I had a small billing issue when my plan switched over from $24 to $30, and their customer service was a bit of a pain to get a hold of, but once I finally got through, they took care of it quickly.
At $10, it's obviously a no brainer for me, and for thousands upon thousands of others. I do worry that they won't be able to handle the influx of customers, and am unsure of how sustainable this business model is. I'll continue to enjoy it while it lasts, though.
If people have specific questions, I'm happy to answer them.

If people have specific questions, I'm happy to answer them. Can you use it with Fandango? Especially for theaters where I can pre-buy my specific seat? Does it support IMAX? Are you able to use it at any show with no blackouts? Can I go Friday night on opening night?

Are you able to use it at any show with no blackouts? Can I go Friday night on opening night? It does not support 3D or IMAX. There are select cities that offer a "premium" experience for more money, and I'm guessing that may change and/or expand as this new plan takes hold. That was never offered in my area, so I don't know much about it beyond that. You cannot purchase tickets online at all, so, no Fandango. The ticket must be purchased at the theater at the ticket window, or at an automated kiosk inside the theater. The card will not even activate unless you are within 100 yards of the theater. You can pre-buy tickets days in advance, though not "officially." The app only lets you select a showtime for the current day. So, you'd have to check in for the same (or different) movie for that day, go into the theater, and buy your ticket for whichever showtime you intend to attend. Because the card is really just a debit card, MoviePass doesn't know what showing you're purchasing. They briefly enacted a verification checkpoint where you had to take a picture of your ticket stub and upload it to them, but they've removed that (it never worked for me, personally.) I would expect, at some point, they will bring it back. There are absolutely no blackout dates.

I know it seems like a dumb question, but I mostly want to make sure that I can get tickets in advance because the theatre by me lets you pick your seats when you buy tickets, and obviously the center/center seats go first as they're the best ones.

Yep. Let's say you're going to see IT on release night. You could go to the theater on Wednesday, or Thursday (or earlier if you want), check in to any movie (evening showing if you're seeing IT in the evening, matinee if you're seeing IT in the afternoon, because of price differences) and go purchase your ticket for your desired showing of IT. That will continue to work as long as MoviePass doesn't bring back the stub verification. You're limited to one movie every 24 hours, so just make sure you buy your ticket on a day that you're not planning to see another movie.

Got it, thanks for helping with the lingering questions I was wondering about.
