So how do our childhood favorites stack up next to Mattel's newest set of Retros? I put them side-by-side with a few of my old Hasbros and also included Series 1 Retros for further comparison. Lets have a look: Hawk and Sting Undertaker, Hawk, and Sting Bam Bam and Mankind Lesnar, Bam Bam, and Mankind Mr. Perfect and HHH Warrior, Mr. Perfect, and HHH Razor and Stone Cold Kevin Owens, Razor, and Stone Cold Bulldog and The Rock Cena, Bulldog, and Rocky Giant Gonzalez and Kane Roman, Gonzalez, and Kane And for fun, here are action shots of a mixed Championship Invitational Battle Royal: Lesnar Gorilla Pressing the nearly 8ft Giant Gonzales Stinger Splash to Reigns Mandible Claw on Hawk Bigelow eliminates Warrior Stunner to Cena! Double Chokeslam? Hard right hand to KO Perfectly executed blood-rush Suplex to the Rock The Big red Machine has The Bad Guy around the throat The dream match we never got The Rock attempts to stop Bulldog from eliminating HHH Foley doing the very spot which tore off his ear. Austin stomping a mudhole into the Pelican Man Perfect with a neckbreaker to KO (Hey Mattel - can we get a Suplex Action in Series 3 or 4?) Cena and Rock with a test of strength Brothers reunite to eliminate El Gigante! The Final 4 squaring off Kane Tombstones Cena Want to see more? Fantastic pictures! I really love all the action shots, very cool.
They do look better lined up with the Hasbro's than I initially thought they would when they were first released. I think my main issue is the skin tones Mattel have used for the figures as this does kind of seperate them from the original Hasbro's a bit for me. Obviously, the likes of Reigns and The Rock look pretty cool but others have completely different tones despite being the same ethnicity as Hasbro's. Compare the new Warrior to the old ones, for example.

Excellent thread. Also liked your series two review on the Mattel forum. The accessories fit perfectly. Very impressed with the Mattel Retro series so far bar the paint quality. Has me collecting again after 20yrs.
Not sure if you saw the thread I started re: the undertaker but noticed yours like many is missing the eyeliner.
Keep them coming.

Great thread. Enjoyed your review thread too. I was really disappointed with the Rock initially, and while I still think it could've been better with the Austin action, you're picture makes it look a lot better than I previously thought.
And while not the biggest fan of the jumping action, I'm starting to think it makes sense for HHH - hook another figures arms, do the jump and with the weight bringing them down forward, you've got probably the best Pedigree possible. (Although maybe more like a Styles Clash)

I like how the fit in, I am noticing I don't like the heads, both in how they seem attached differently so that stands out, and thay they're not the hard plastic like the rest of the figure, so they don't have a gloss on them like the figure and the Hasbros. It's not as bad on the guys with the longer hair like Sting, Kane, Taker, Warrior etc. But Austin, Rock, Owens look weird the way the head is on, sorta looks like the necks are too long like a giraffe or something. And I don't know why they did Rock's legs like that, looks like that look would better fit a Dink figure IMO.

Those are awesome but with the creativity and ability these days, how do they make such an ugly Warrior or give that body to HHH? Rock's legs are tiny as mentioned too, BUT on the other hand goes perfectly with some of Hasbro's ideas (for instance, DiBiase and Nailz with the short legs). Cool pics though!

Yes, I saw your thread. I had to go back and look at mine because I didn't remember if he had it or not. Very interesting...I am curious why there was a design change to begin with. Now I need to see the prototypes to see if that is how he came originally or if this was some sort of last minute design change. Someone ask MDT!

It's too bad that Mattel had to make Triple H and Sting in that jumping style of figure. I never hear anyone when talking about Hasbro figures say that they like those figures. At least some guys made sense to have that ability (Rockers, Koko, Snuka, since they all did jump off the top rope) but when Warrior, Beefcake and others had it, it really just ruined the ability to wanna use that guy when playing around.

Nice pics ! I love what Mattel is doing with these retro figs. My only criticism is that I wish they included the cut out collector card. But I'm enjoying the line. I hope it's around for a while!

I never noticed until now that the arms are a bit thicker on the new guys.
Otherwise they look even better than I realized next to the old guys.

Mattel have done a great job so far. Think initially it was a test hence why we have been limited to number of moulds. But with the technology today they could create a far more superior line tha hasbro did . Ie ring with cage more accessories etc

That is the part that excited me. I'm not thrilled with everything they have done but I look forward to the possibilities. This would actually be a great thing for WCT to get in on if Mattel isn't able to make it happen.
I dream of having cages, chairs, all the classic belts, ladders, managers, refs, and more!
