I was a member here long ago, under a name I can't remember, so here I am again. OK, so here it is, I am selling off my collection and have to decide about what to do with the main set. I have a set of loose hasbros which is only missing the mailaway Taker, mailaway Bret ( The mailaway is there but opened so it is now a regular fig.. I only know what it really is because I know who opened it, oh well.) I believe all other mailaways are there - Red Hogan, Hulkster Hug mailaway, both Silvervision mailaways. It also includes many variations - the Funskool versions, 3 different color pants on Rude, etc. I have to decide if I want to make more by breaking it up, or If I should attempt to sell it as a whole. I would love to see it go as a set seeing how much effort was put into it, but could I expect to get a good price selling altogether? Thoughts from you guys and gals would help. I am in the beginning of selling off a massive collection of wrestling stuff so I can work on other projects. I put loads of pictures of the collection up here years ago, and haven't displayed them since.

Most collectors just seek single figures, not a complete set. Selling as a complete set will get you less: nobody's gonna pay the full worth plus insane shipping cost...

I would agree with the suggestion to sell them off separately - though I can completely understand why you'd not want to break the collection up, but if you're after the best price then I think that's the way to go on eBay certainly. Collectors will more likely be missing a few figures from their existing collections (or 13 in my case ) rather than looking to start a new collection from the start. Prices are ridiculously high on there now so I'd say it was worth the effort to split the rarer figures off on their own, though I would probably group together the more common figures into a few lots. If you want to avoid eBay, then there are Facebook groups and classifieds here that will provide good homes for most of your collection if you are more interested in selling to other collectors rather than people who might be looking to sell them on for their own profit. The mailaways you mention would certainly be popular, including the Bret you mentioned if you are vouching for it being the mailaway version rather than the series 4 purple heart variation. Or alternatively just try reaching out to Zack Ryder As sad as I'm sure it will be to sell the collection on, this certainly seems to be the time to do it in terms of prices.

The investor in me says break 'em up buddy, money money! While the collector in me is screaming noooooooooooooo!! But I think you are right that right now the thing to do is to separate them and let the bigger pieces do their thing. I just have to stuff that damn collector-hoarder in me into a dark corner until it's over, lol.

a mailaway Bret is not a mailaway Bret when loose, it's just a standard Purple Heart Bret which are not uncommon.

You may want to read the post again - slowly this time. I posted => "The mailaway is there but opened so it is now a regular fig.. I only know what it really is because I know who opened it, oh well." NOTE that it says it would be considered a regular figure now. I only know what it is because I was there when it was opened. Although I would point out that there is a difference in the color of the pants, which is why I know which one in my set it is. The pants are more neon pink than the carded purple heart figs (loose or sealed) that I have. While it may not be different than all originally carded purple heart figs, it is different from the ones I have.
