So my friend's birthday is coming up and I have an idea for a gift. She's super passionate about animals. As a birthday gift, I want to make a donation to the animal rescue she helps run.
I went on the website and don't see how I can make a donation in her name or anything like that.
What to you guys think would be the best way to let her know about the donation without being tacky? Should I just tell her I made a donation for her birthday? Should I tell her the amount? I almost feel like I should send her a picture of the receipt or if they send like a thank you email, just for the gesture of actually sending her something. I'm also not sure to what extent she helps run the animal rescue. She may even see all the donations that come in and who sent them.

Maybe you could spend an extra $5 or whatever and buy a plush toy of her favourite animal to give her as a physical gift and give her a card and write in it that you also made a donation to the animal rescue. Just a thought, hope you figure something out

Write a note in a nice birthday card that because she loves animals you donated to her rescue in her name. Shows you put thought into her gift, and you truly know her. Usually, you can call in the donation and do it in someone's name, or do it anonymously too; it is that way here at least.

Just a thought, hope you figure something out I would do that but I don't know her new address. Earlier this year we had a bit of a falling out. Things seem to be slowly getting better now, but she lives across the country and recently moved. While things are getting good between us again it's still awkward right now to ask for her address. I used to either mail her a gift or we would meet up on a vacation together and I'd bring a gift with me. This time around I have to settle for something I can do completely virtually.

You could probably send it to her rescue then. That address would be easier to get, right?

They run out of a pet store that allows them to use some of their space on weekends for adoption events. I'll have to look into if I can mail stuff there for her. She doesn't actually work at the pet store. She's just there on weekends for adoptions.

bababooey I would find the address to the actual rescue, if you were going that route. The actual rescue is her house and the houses of the others involved in her group. lol It's not a big operation but they help as much as they can. Just really cats and dogs that they foster. On weekends they bring the ones ready for adoption to the adoption events. They basically run everything else through social media, so they can handle it from home or work. My current living situation doesn't really allow me the opportunity for a pet, so I figure this is a nice way to get her a birthday gift and support something she's passionate about.

That is definetely a good idea. We have those kind of rescue groups around my area, and they do so much good work. They tend to help the animals that get overlooked at the shelters/brick and mortar rescues, or that would otherwise be put down or left homeless due to health problems. God bless them. VPV
