EDIT 4th June 2018 Hello folks. Firstly, business is going pretty well, however we could do with more of a social media presence, so i'm trying a couple of things. One of which is the following: CREATE-A-WRESTLER COMPETITION WHAT IS THE GRAPPLE ARCADE?Hi, The Grapple Arcade is a retro wrestling themed video games event that runs in the U.K. As well as our regular home at the Giraffe Lounge craft Ale bar in Newcastle, we also run our event at large conventions throughout the U.K. COMPETITION INFO:Design an original wrestling character by free hand, digital design software, or by sending us a screen shot of a CAW from any wrestling game. This is a free to enter competition which will ultimately lead to the winners artwork being featured on our future promotional posters for upcoming events. If the character you submit wins the competition, they will be featured on posters, along side our character, El’Grapp’el (see posters below). The posters will be used for online promotion and will feature at our upcoming events and conventions. You (your social media page, website, business) will also receive full credit and promotion. We are also arranging a goody bag of prizes for the winner, which is to be announced in the upcoming couple of weeks via our social media pages (some final deals are being made). HOW TO ENTER: Completely free to enter, but you need to: - Like & follow is on social media Facebook: The Grapple ArcadeTwitter: @grapplearcade- Then, submit your entry Via our FB competition page ( FACEBOOK COMPETITION POST ) - Or via our Twitter competition page ( TWITTER COMPETITION THREAD ) Please see the full rules on the completion poster below and please see our recent event posters on social media for reference. Our upcoming conventions are currently expected to have approx 1800-3000 attendees, so this really could be great exposure for your artwork. Also, it goes without saying, share his with your friends, and also post your concepts in here, it could make for a great topic of discussion. .............................................................................................................................. Strangely though, you are also a customiser based in Newcastle. And so am I. Sort of. I have customised stuff before but they're very few and far between. Not a regular by any means.

The problem here is that there are too many people who are hostile to newcomers or new ideas. Just look at how dead the banter board is and its because a few old timers come out the woodwork to shoot people down then go into hiding once more. Like you said, everything turns toxic with arguments and we've had worse happen here too.
Arguments over every little thing need to stop and people need to start being more welcoming.
Looking at the wider picture of collecting in the UK, prices go up, quality is down, the sheer number of US exclusives and scalping/scammers just sucks the fun out of it all. I've got 8 Mattel figs left to sell out of my once 150+ collection to sell as I'm done with it all and just collect Funko's now.
Plus the lack of any relationship with Mattel, Bill just makes the whole thing feel cold.

That's a shame. Out of curiosity how bad has it been on here... to what extent? This will always be my home away from home really, a bit like moving back to your boring childhood town after going on adventures, but when you arrive you just think it's nothing that a lick of paint and a fancy new steak house won't fix.
So apart from requiring more sounder members, is there anything that the board lacks? Is there anything you lot have spotted on other forums that works and keeps it interesting, or is it simply fresh run of the mill content? Does it really need a banter board as well as main board due to low content? Would a handful of specific sticky threads make it more appealing?
I've got a couple of ideas, I'd just like to see if people can be arsed to make it work or as I said before, has it run its course?
It might sound a bit strange and to some a bit pointless, but like I said, I've been a member since 01 and was at AFR before that. It's always nice to have a few decent haunts to go to and if there's a chance of fixing it, then great.

It's not as lively as it used to be. It's mainly about discussing findings these days, and what shops have offers on etc. But god forbid you discuss any figures that are not WWE in the figure findings board. Some newbies don't like that. Once in a blue moon there'll be something like the Babe of the Year contest. To be fair, I don't really come here for the "banter" anymore. We had fun times here years ago but now that I'm older and can't really be arsed I just kind of like to stay in the loop about what's in stores right now.

Babe of the Year is the only draw these days.

At the risk of being negative I think this place is too far gone to ever go back to how it was.
Been here since 2005 so that's over 12 and a half years. Was a big part of my teenage years as it helped educate me on all the WWE exclusives at the time and how to make my wrestling figure collection feel a bit more complete.
However as it's been said we're all a lot older now and I'm in my late 20's. None of us have the same time to be on here as much as we were back then. I feel I'm genuinely one of the last of the old guard still around.
I remember getting into disagreements on here with certain folk at that time, some were outright bullies. I'm glad since then they've been weeded out. Sometimes I'd sooner take a quieter board with a smaller group of genuine people over large numbers who are awful people.

Couldn't agree more Layth.
I think it's possibly a nostalgia thing for me, after AFR and geocities this place was my haunt. FB does my head in if I'm honest and I can't be arsed with twitter. A forum offers something more I think. You can get to know folk/characters and not everyone it's looking for attention. Some people are twats but the occasional one isn't a bad thing as it can pull everyone else together.
I'm always hopeful, but it's down to content really I suppose. There's a figure finding thread, a footy thread, a banter board, so what's the need for the main board?
... how you doing Kev? Hope things are good mate.. have you bitten and started collecting the retro line yet?

2 Things...
I remember when the board was basic and just had one area. The banter board was added due to the amount of general posts being posted in the main board... when it was busy. Now the place is really quiet, would it be beneficial if everything was on one board again, this could in turn help it to appear busier?
Other thing for the sheer volume of Newcastle based customisers, I'm thinking of opening a community venue for crafts and the arts. Any interest in a customising area, maybe with some old royal rumbles playing in the background? Think a basic wrestling version of games workshop.

Would be cool to share tips and such and meet other customisers

Im enquiring with a couple of places in town regarding 'community centre' sequence space with the idea of certain days tayloring to specific clubs so to speak. No idea how it will go but we'll see.
