I guess problem was Jake left right after WM8. But, I'm still shocked he wasn't released in 92' or at least shown in the toyfair magazine (but I'm not sure what time of year those images came out?) Bossman got his new figure in Series 4, surely Jake was due as he'd only had one figure in the line too. Yeah. There was a pretty decent turnaround time on original Hasbros. Face Bossman didn't really come out until close to the end of Bossman's run in the company, so it took them around 2 years to get it out. Jake was only heel for around 9 months, which would've been quick for a new Hasbro. The weird thing is that they did seem to release a lot of guys after they were already gone, so I guess that's what I would've expected to happen.

Hope we hear soon when these will come out and where they will be sold at. Wonder if we will be able to pre-order them like series 3? You'd think they would release the ring and at least some of the new figures before Christmas!

Too many apologists in this thread. This is supposed to be a retro line, for people my age who grew up with these and were turned on by that first series in hopes we would get the proper era of guys. Even attitude era was too late. Look at the ring they made. That is also looking way too small by the way. It's blue classic retro just like the line. So what is the reason for all these modern people? The demo that wanted this line will turn on it and it will tank and the apologists will say but if you only bought all the Enzo's you could have had a Diesel in 2 years! Well put and I have been guilty of this myself. The term 'clutching at straws' and wanted this line to work so badly certainly have something to do with it, though! Im sure I speak for others when I say we've been waiting for this line for nearly a quarter of a century so don't want to admit it's failed us just yet! Agreed and I am just as guilty too and was admittedly just annoyed when I wrote that lol. But honestly I am always trying to rationalize and defend and when I saw that we were getting the blue classic ring and like almost NO classic guys that match that ring era it just was my breaking point. At least make it a modern ring if you are totally ditching the classic guys. I was totally fine with a split of modern and classic but I don't see a split. It's just pretty disappointing and kind of makes you wonder why they'd bother. Maybe after ringside fest the picture will be clearer and make more sense.

So they are trying to appeal to today’s fans while throwing the old school fans a bone here and there. Series 2 was all classic guys that I know I wanted. I’m sure in time everyone will get what they want.

I'm as big a Hasbro fan as anyone and collected them from the release of the first series until it ended, but I'm genuinely very satisfied by this line.
There have been figures of classic guys in various forms for years and years. I was missing the style of the figures, not the characters themselves. Would it be desirable to get some of the dudes they missed out on during the prime Hasbro years? Yes. But did I ever expect most of them? No.
To me, it's the style of the figure that is exciting, not the guys. And, honestly, I'd much rather see new guys done in this style than guys I already have done over and over again.

This is essentially my position as well - "Retro" means the style of the figures rather than the selection of the guys that are made. I'm a WWF fan from the early 90s up to somewhere around the end of the Attitude/Ruthless Aggression eras, so naturally I'd be more interested in guys from that time and before, but I still welcome the current guys despite only sort of knowing them - I would be interested in seeing how the kids of today take to the style of figures that dominated my childhood, and for them you have to make the current guys as well as the legends for overgrown children like me.

I agree to some point. For example I’d rather have a retro KO than another Taker or Warrior. But I’d also rather have someone like Dino Bravo over KO. Want different wrestlers more than remakes and repaints.

It'd be cool to finally get a Tugboat retro type figure. 👀
Hoping we get some more legends scattered in BUT this is smart. Current guys = legs the line pick of steam with the majority of people. Gives it a chance to really succeed to build in more and more legends.

Maybe the answer would be for Mattel to set some soft pattern for the make-up of each Retro series release? Being someone who likes order and uniformity, then how about a pattern like this for all future series: -6 figures per series: 3 modern guys; 3 legends. Of the three legends I’d then further divide them using the Hasbro line for definition, like: -1 pre-Hasbro superstar - so here you’d find guys like Haku, The Brainbusters, etc. -1 superstar that was represented in the original Hasbro line - either guys who deserve better figures, or just big names that will sell well -1 post-Hasbro superstar (New Generation, Attitude Era, Ruthless Aggression, etc., basically up until the PG era we’re currently in) - can also sneak-in some newly retired guys that might boost sales for the series as a whole, allowing a slightly lesser known legend to be represented in one of the other two slots So then we might be looking at a series like: 1. Finn Balor 2. Chris Jericho (w/ The List of Jericho accessory) 3. Bray Wyatt 4. Bruno Sammartino 5. Ric Flair 6. Diesel Or: 1. Randy Orton 2. Jinder Mahal 3. Braun Strowman 4. Cowboy Bob Orton 5. Shawn Michaels (w/ some sort of jacket accessory) 6. Eddie Guerrero And then if they do a women’s series: 1. Charlotte Flair (w/ robe accessory) 2. Nikki Bella 3. Emma 4. Wendi Richter 5. Sensational Sherri (obviously there were no female Hasbro figures, but still the right era) 6. Brie Bella Might provide a balance to make everyone happy? Or everyone equally unhappy?
