Why does anybody need a semi-automatic weapon? It's sickening that we have a country full of buffoons raised on Rambo who think guns make them heroes. Muh freedom and all that, of course.

This is ing ridiculous. I’m not for banning guns altogether, but security needs to be improved EVERYWHERE. There’s no reason someone should be able to have even been able to get into a position to do sh*t like this.

One of my best friend's aunt was there with her husband. They were on vacation. Thankfully, they're fine and back here in Maine now.

Why does anybody need a car that goes over 50mph? 1.3 million people die every year from car crashes...Most of which are due to excessive speed. Is it still sickening to you that our country is full of buffoon raised on Steve McQueen & auto racing? I always ask people the same thing when stuff like this starts....is the the deaths/loss of life that really bothers you....or is it just the agenda?

Encourage everyone to send their thoughts and prayers to the victims and their loved ones. Completely surreal. Or we could do something that's actually useful.

Did you hear any first hand story? How they reacted or what they did Nothing in the way of major details. My friend was sleeping when it was all happening. Her aunt called her mom (the aunt's sister) during the chaos and told her they were being shot at and that they might not make it out. She tried to stay on the phone with her, but kept losing their connection. They made it out and hunkered down with some others in the lobby of a hotel a little ways away. By the time my friend woke up to missed calls/texts, they were safe and back at their own hotel, arranging for a flight home.

You always hear the stories about survivors and what not in the news/newspapers but to see and hear them first hand is totally different.

I believe we are entitled to be able to carry a handgun for protection, but ffs why is it necessary for people to easily be able to purchase semi-automatic rifles and assault rifles? THERE IS ZERO NEED. Don't give me the hunter's excuse bullcrap. It's 2017, this country is very developed and I'd say there are few places left where people actually HAVE to hunt to eat and survive. It's a ludicrous excuse, among all the other insane defenses by the good ole boys at the NRA.
Look at Australia's gun control restrictions after 1996. It works, but people don't want to hear it. There needs to be an extremely tight background/psychological clearance process to owning handguns, and needs to be a ban on semi-auto assault rifles.

He hunts deer, gets it all butchered up and doesn't ever buy meat at the store. Why should he be hurt? Some people like to hunt as a hobby also. I personally don't but why hurt those who do and are responsible.

America is more "Batcrap" crazy. i have a concealed permit and i do sometimes carry it on me for protection. you never know who you will run into. my business of occupation got robbed like over 7 years ago with a gun cocked to my dads head. so for that reason, i carry one

Guns are for protection, not cold blooded murder...But they are used for that. Cars yes are for transportation but you completely avoided what I asked, why do we need one that goes over 50mph? You'll fight for stricter gun laws to save lives yet you wont fight for stricter speeding laws/ automobile mandates to save lives. 2014 8k people were killed from gun homicides. In the same year 32k people were killed in automobile accidents. If people really cared about human life like they acted like they did when there is gun violence, then they would be much more up in arms when people died from other preventable causes. That right there, is your agenda.

That right there, is your agenda. Speed limits are changed frequently to adjust for change in traffic and conditions. We have added airbags and made seatbelts a requirement to add safety. Cars are frequently tested for safety and recalled for problems. Cops give tickets for speeding and for not wearing seatbelts to keep people safe. On the other hand some states are making easier for people to get and carry guns in public with little to no training. I live in Missouri and spend lots of time in Kansas and both states now allow people to carry without any permits or training. While we take several actions to try to make cars safer gun lobbies fight to make it easier for anyone to get a gun and doesn't really care what people do with it. The NRA has went from teaching respect for guns and gun safety, to trying to scare people into thinking people are coming for their guns and that they need to stand and fight.

It obviously went completely over your head. Guns are for protection, not cold blooded murder Helmets are for protection. Seat belts are for protection. Guns are for killing. If you think you're so smart that I don't what you're saying, you're just blind. Your argument was asinine, no matter how clever you think you are. And Steve McQueen? What are you, 60 or something?

I personally don't but why hurt those who do and are responsible. It feels like you're saying somebody's hobby is more important than saving lives. Nobody needs to hunt anymore these days. They sure as hell don't need assault rifles to do it.
