Any international buyers find the Ebay GPS a pain in the ass? Its put me off buying internationally because eBay charge too much with it. Id rather the sellers opt out of the global shipping program and set their own postage fees. More and more sellers are using the GSP and the shipping is a killer. Are the users even aware they are automatically opted into this GPS?

I'm in Indiana. if I ship something global shipping, it goes to Kentucky. Then it's no longer my problem. I'm 1000% in favor of it

I ended-up inadvertently testing this system a couple of weeks back, having not ordered from abroad for a long time. Two figures from different US sellers ordered a few days apart for around the same value - one went through the Global Shipping Program, and the other was the standard Royal Mail Extortion Service.
-The first was a carded figure from Miami that cost $47.00, with shipping costing $14.95 first class. The customs cost on delivery was a little over £18; £8 of which was for Royal Mail's "services".
-The second was a loose figure from New York that cost $44.99, with the Global Shipping Program costing $12.95 for shipping and $13.85 for customs (around £10.50 - saving the equivalent of the Royal Mail fee).
So I was happy with the results of using it obviously, but I've just used it the once. Did I just get lucky with the shipping cost of the loose figure, or is that pretty standard?

I'm 1000% in favor of it I was automatically enrolled into the GS program and while it makes things convenient by not having to ship to an international address, the postage charged by ebay has resulted in a number of non-paying buyers for me. For my auctions, I exclude shipping to all countries outside the US except Japan.

Speaking as someone who sells alot over seas, the GSP has saved me a lot of hassle and money. I tried to ship 10 comics without it and it cost me $50 just to ship to the uk.

Customs Forms, Extra Charges, Shipping restrictions, there are so many hoops to go through when it comes to international shipping that it is something I avoid when ever possible.
