I took it to mean AFTER the deal between WWF and Hasbro had expired. The tone of it felt like he was bringing up the way WCW took all of WWF's leftovers in the mid to late 90's. Maybe the OP can clarify. Yeah, either with Hasbro after they split with WWF or just have whatever random company they were liscensed with imitate them just like Mattel is doing today. Which I wouldn't have thought of back then, and was surprised to see the Mattel could/would outright copy the Hasbro line. I'm pretty sure another company wasn't allowed to copy the Hasbro WWF style in the mid to late '90s because of patents. In the mid '90s WCW wasn't big enough to ink a deal with Hasbro. Even if there was a slim chance, there's no guarantee they would've used the same figure style; they might've been similar to GIJoe Extreme figures. Also I think WCW had a deal with OSFTM before Hasbro's deal with WWF ended...

I really like the wcw galoob line and would have liked that to continue. Imo it was a reflection of the wcw at the time as the figures were more "realistic" like the wcw in the early 90s where hasbro was more bright and cartoony like the wwf was

They should have as the SF toymakers figures were horrible.

I always wondered why WCW figures were basically LJN style. Don't get me wrong, LJN and Galoob have a vintage charm, articulation obviously wasn't important back then. Kudos to you 80s babies who grew up with those rubber statues lol. I was born in '91 so I had a few of the tail en Hasbros and then the Jakks BCA, TTL and RAs.
WCW's entire library of figures never interested me. My dad found about 12 Toybiz figures in a dumpster at his job back in '98 (all in the package). But I still found no appeal in them. WCW just always had boring figures imo.
I can say those protos are a bit better looking than the final outcome. Maybe they would have fit in better with Hasbro's line.
