Please lock because this thread is nothing but a door opener for Roman haters to state their repeatitive opinions of him. I bet if it was Jericho who took a shot at Cody everyone would worshiping him opinion. People wouldn’t go after Jericho because he’s a draw. Roman is the face of dropping profits, attendance, and ratings.You can't blame him on the half empty Smackdown arenas. The WWE has many problems not just Roman. |

I'm not a fan of Roman at all but based off the comments in this thread all I can think of is if Cody wasn't Dusty's son then he wouldn't be near the star with nowhere close to the name recognition. Pot calling the kettle black, basically. Because he was such a massive name in WWE? Cody worked his ass off to make a name for himself, and prove himself, once he hit the indy scene. He's put in more work on his character than most other guys on the indies, or even in WWE (including a certain large hound). There are plenty of guys with name recognition that have gone to the indies and flopped; there's a reason Cody isn't one of them. Man... did you even read my post? I said that if he wasn't the son of Dusty then he wouldn't have been near the star and wouldn't have as much name recognition. I didn't say he wasn't talented and I didn't say he hasn't worked his ass off and I didn't say he doesn't deserve to be where he's at now or anything like that. The guy was on WWE tv for over a decade. Tag champ. IC champ. He's the son of a HOF legend and the brother of a legend. If you don't think his name and his exposure in WWE had a major role in his independent success then you're lying to yourself. I'm not knocking on Cody. |

Just look at Sim Snuka or Ted Dibiase Jr. Sure, the exposure may have helped initially, but Cody working his ass off is what's responsible for his sustained success. Just like Galloway/McIntyre. You don't see many other talents going and getting themselves booked (repeatedly) on a big network show like Arrow. |

I'm sure I'll be quoted and told I'm wrong, but I really don't see why so many bring up the ratings. Ratings are down for most TV shows right now. The NFL ratings are down. Walking Dead ratings are down. If WWE was so interested in the ratings for USA, they wouldn't post video highlights on YouTube 10 minutes after it happens. I know people who don't pay for cable, but watch clips online to keep up to speed.
Now I'm not saying business isn't down. And god knows things certainly could be better. I'm just saying between YouTube, Hulu, & DVR the typical rating system is not what it was during the Monday Night Wars. Yes, they're still important, but not as much as they used to be.
Also... at no time did Roman claim he's the biggest draw in wrestling. People seem to be reading to much into his comment.

Number of times Roman drew over 100k? 0 Main evented WM 32, which had an announced attendance of over 100k. I'm assuming thats where he drew the number from. But yeah, any WWE show I have been to in the last 3 years with RR on the card (sans Mania 33) have been FAR from sellouts. Often time they are tarping off sections. The Wrestlemania name itself will draw 70,000 fans, its the headliners and matches that draw the rest. Maybe Reigns was talking about 100K dollars which I dont even think the house shows he is headlining draws that much for the gate. |

Neither did Roman Reigns for his remark back to him
Nobody had issues in the 90s when Shane Douglas called out "Dick" Flair numerous times, or when HBK would say on Raw that he is "the only Icon that can still go" in talking about how old Hogan, Piper and Savage were.
Everyone now has to get butt hurt over things and complain about it online. What happened to people having a set and not taking everything so personally??

The WWE has many problems not just Roman. You’re right. He’s not the only problem. The scripted promos, terrible writing, and nonsensical booking (stuff like the whole wins and losses don’t matter thing) are all huge problems. Roman is just the face of everything that’s wrong with WWE today, as all three of the things I just mentioned apply to him specifically. SmackDown’s main problem is the lack of “star power”. Everybody over there is just booked so insanely bad that they all seem like mid-carders. That’s probably the main reason people don’t want to buy tickets to see it anymore. The Shakeup in April really hurt SmackDown too. KO was the only major star they got and he's been in the U.S. Title picture with AJ Styles having amazing matches while Orton, Jinder, and Nakamura are failing in the WWE Title picture having lackluster matches every week. |

I’ve never understood why wrestling fans cared or judge the product so much over the ratings especially in 2017. There are so many shows I watch on a weekly basis and not once has it crossed my mind to check the ratings let alone base an opinion on the show over it. The only time wrestling ratings remotely mattered was RAW vs Nitro and that was just to determine which company was doing better, WWE has 0 competition and is undoubtably the most watched wrestling product in the U.S and maybe the world. Fans shouldn’t care about the ratings, it’s not their problem to worry about, just focus on trying to enjoy the show 🤦🏽♂️ |
