Here is Randy (guy who sold the protos) message to mark, and marks reply.
Randy: Seriously Mark??? You posted them for sale mere hours after you picked them up. At crazy mark ups. $20,000 & $25,000 seriously. A classier person might have actually told me that I'd greatly under valued them instead of feeding me a bunch of lies and getting me to rush post them just so they could steal them up to flip them. I had thought to make the later 3 items bid-able but you were so convincing that I felt they were going to a home where they'd be appreciated. I was wrong. The sad thing is I could have really used any real value those items held if I'd put them up for bid instead of continuing to list them at a straight price for you. If not I wouldn't have sold them in the first place. To have someone press and take advantage of my good nature is extremely saddening and leaves a real sour taste to the whole matter. I've dealt with people before who would tell a poor grandma her Superman #1 was a reprint and give her $50 and then flip it for $1,000's. It takes a pretty low class of person to do such a thing. You gave me what I ended up asking for the items. I would've liked more, and had I listed them as I'd intended I would've gotten more which is something that would've been really helpful, but I was glad to have them go to a good home. Also I guess you wanted them so quickly because you figured others might persuade me to cancel the deal with offers of much more, so you figured you better get them home quick. Had you been a true-hearted person I wouldn't have done that anyway. Bottom line is here you are writing me, telling me how these are staying in your collection and that you are so proud of them when all along you're just flipping them in hopes of a big profit. Good job
Mark: Hi Randy,
I understand how all of this must look but it just isn't the case. As I mentioned, I have been a collector since 1998. Pieces like these mean A LOT to me. There are many collectors that would love to know that all of these figures exist. On my eBay page, I do buy and sell -- it's the only way I am able to collect anymore. I used to have over 3,000 figures in my collection, my room looked like a toy store -- but I was spending way too much, I got into credit card debt because of it and ultimately I decided to sell it all off in 2007.
The absolute truth to everything is that I have pieces in my collection that I wouldn't think about parting with. For example, my WCW Galoob 1/1 Resin Steiners, My MOC LJN Ultimate Warrior and My Star Toys of Spain Big Boss Man. Those are the pieces that I told the people whom I purchased them from that they would be going into my collection...but then, they are on eBay and people assume that I am a re-seller just looking to take a pay day. It's simply NOT true at all. Even though they are on a website where the sole idea is to sell items, for me personally and to my own knowledge despite what everyone else thinks, "I" know that I don't want to sell them. I put the pieces I cherish at extremely high prices -- out of reach of true value because it's more of a thing like, I just want to showcase what I have in my collection because I am really proud of it and I want to share it with others. It also bring traffic to my other pieces I want to sell so I am able to continue my collecting nature. This is where the Hasbro pieces I acquired from you comes in. It's the same deal here man. I put them at high prices just because I know the collecting world would marvel at them but I have absolutely no real intentions on selling. I have a good reputation man -- I wouldn't do this to you, I swear. I know how it may look to you and some people but this is the God's honest truth about it all. They did go to a good home, Randy.
