I hate how WWE and Mattel mainly want to remember Sting as Crow Sting. His career basically went nowhere but down hill from his return with that look. Same with the retros, we get black/white and soon red/black crow.

Maybe Ringside can do a Surfer Sting with the WCW title and then Goldberg with some belts with it as well after they do HBK exclusive

It's really weird how Bill hasn't slotted any new Stings for any lineups. The man is one of the most requested wrestlers in this line. If he doesn't sell, they can't blame us if they chose the wrong parts and give us a Frankenstein Sting. Both elite Stings had issues with them. Both had that oversized bluetista torso rather than Austin's, skinny legs rather Ziggler's. The DM looked like Sting from the nose up, other than that he looked like a generic toy soldier. The icing was the rubber jacket that looked like he was about to fly. The three pack version suffers from the same issues I mentioned above, but it had a really nice scan that was 10x too big with no neck, to top it off his boots were the wrong color as well. It's cool when Mattel listens to feedback on a figure and then readjusts it. I don't see what the problem with retooling him would be, if it takes time so be it. They have the parts already. I'm pretty sure if he had the correct parts, a nice vinyl jacket (even if the tassels have to be slightly thicker) he would sell better than the first two releases. Another thing, for those wondering I believe Sting isn't too fond of the surfer years. In a recent interview he stated that he sees himself as the crow Sting and the surfer was dying or something along those lines. I think it was that he didn't like the surfer Sting gimmick as much... I hope we get more Stings, he's my favorite wrestler of all time and like I've said countless times it's how much tooling and how much detail they put out with these Stings that matter. If you release the same thing over and over people will get tired of it.

Maybe its because they do not sell as well as Crow Sting. GAB DM is still warming shelves as does the neon green basic. I haven't been into a TRU in a while so can not comment on the NS Basic. Every Crow Sting they have made, modern and flashback, seems to sell much better.

Yeah I get that. But they're probably only looking at sales figures and not taking into consideration the root cause for poor sales. They're probably looking at the bottom line that Crow sells better than Surfer so make more Crow and less Surfer.

You know how at SDCC '17 they largely showed modern figures with a mixture of some we have seen and some we haven't?
Then at Ringside Fest '17 they showed a lot of classic figures with a mixture of some modern figures we haven't seen before?
Hang on now...It's like every year they do this to us! What gives!? They don't always show every single figure coming out and save some for the next fest, or even surprises. What? Why!?
So maybe....stick with me here....maybe they're leaving a few things up for a future surprise? Like how we got a Surfer Sting as a surprise in the TNF 3-pack?
It has been nearly nine years with Mattel and as far as I can recall they never outlined everything they're doing, why would this change now? I get that an Elite Surfer Sting is desirable and we've already had at least four figures in that area, including two Elites. I know to have another for certain Elite revealed would please you all, but it's not his first Elite so I don't see them making a huge deal about it like when his GAB '90 DM was announced.
Be thankful for the last two huge showings we received in the last three months. Thanks & God bless.

Other than a KMart where they are charging $30 for the DM GAB figure with the laced boots (5+) I have not seen surfer Sting figures warming. There’s plenty of the Network Spotlight figure at TRU, but there’s also plenty of everyone else in the assortment to.

Seriously? People saying Sting figures don’t sell? It’s like saying Warrior figures don’t sell. Bill even said in the Ringside interview that’s warrior sells great (outside of horrible distro on the UW DM). The fact that Bill even said there’s a Surfer Sting Elite that HE wants to make, shows we might finally get a great one. Frankly if it means making him right, I’m fine with waiting until 2019 for it. Plus, with them finally getting the rights to WCW Titles, this is our chance to get one done the right way, WITH the actual WCW Title.

Holding out hope that he will make a surprise appearance as a Network Spotlight figure. We had a couple of figures sneak in that way.

I still don't think he sells or maybe Vince McMahon is putting the word out not to produce that much Sting merch. If he sold like Warrior and Macho, he would be made. Mattel likes money. I know it's hard to believe but maybe he just doesn't move as much as people would like to think. I think that's one issue people have with Sting. He wasn't a top draw as World Champion but people like to think he was.

Maybe Sting prefers that the Crow is produced more often? You guys are jumping to some big conclusions. I doubt Bill is purposefully holding back on the Surfers.

I’m intrigued to see evidence on him not being a top draw I’m not saying you’re wrong as it’s all opinions but it’s just a very bold statement I know it's a bold statement but it's a common thing that pops up from time to time about him. House shows and pay per views took a hit when he was champion in terms of attendance. The buy rates went down. If you look at say Great American Bash 92 - Sting-Vader does a .4 buy while Great American Bash 91 does a 1.00 buy rate with Luger-Windham. I know Jim Cornette has said that nothing was drawing in 1992 but to me that is just an excuse to cover for your champion. Sting had to follow Flair and precede Hogan in WCW as champion and it was ok but not up to those two as far as drawing goes. I haven't compared Sting to WWF champions but as far as WCW goes, as popular as Sting seemed with all the faces painted in the crowd, he just wasn't as popular as you would think based on the numbers. 6 time WCW World Champion and all those reigns combined don't come out to a year. Throw in the NWA title run and I think it goes over a year.

Wow we might have to wait until 2019 to wait for a proper Surfer Sting? That really stinks. Not having a good Elite version is such a big void in my collection. I guess patience is the key here, but that is still a long time to wait when we should have at least 5 or more by now.

I think the 2nd retro Sting that is in red should of been a surfer sting as well and they used the same jumper mold on him again.
