This is beyond ridiculous. Yet another mass shooting in the U.S. This time in Texas at a church.
Apparently at least 27 are dead. When is enough enough? How many lives have to be lost before they do something??
I am so fed up with the "thoughts and prayers" crap. They don't do anything!!
Some serious action is needed and long overdue.

It's so dumb that humans have to kill other humans. It's to the point where I'm nervous to be in big crowds nowadays. The wife and I are going to Vegas and New York in March and the whole time I'll probably be thinking something could easily break out at any second around us.

My prayers for the victims and families. This crap has happened often and doesn’t surprise me anymore. It’s unfortunately a part of life. Surely this will become a gun control thread.

What's truly scary is how desensitized we are becoming to the violence. They haven't even mentioned it on any of the football games. Not a single word. News like this used to warrant a cut in by the network but not anymore.
I'm sad for many many reasons.

At this point (and I think I'm paraphrasing someone else) it's not a matter of "IF" another shooting will happen but "When". It's sad and so crazy that it continues. Especially horrible when it's children.

Eh, a state that loves guns in a country that loves guns. People getting shot is gonna happen - why the hell should I care anymore?
Like Mr. Old School said "thoughts" mean nothing - just hot air - and "prayers" to an imaginary man in the clouds mean even less.

2 of the 5 deadliest mass shootings in modern US history have happened in the last 35 days.
What a sad, sick statistic that is.

I’m glad people are finally starting to see through all of this “thoughts and prayers” bullsh*t. Thinking about these victims does nothing, and no matter how much you pray, no god is going to take a gun out of some psyco’s hand. People need to stop having debates and start finding solutions, because this is getting ridiculous.

The shooter had been court martialed in the Air Force for assaulting his wife and daughter. He later stockpiled weapons, including an AR-556, which he boasted about online. It's logical to assume that our government would feel the moral imperative to keep these volatile ingredients from combining, but I'm sure that they'll sit on their hands and blather erroneously about the 2nd Amendment.

Its an old question, but its always relevant . How many of your rights would you give up for safety?
Gun control certaintly sounds great at face value, and while it would cut the opportunity in half of someone purchasing a gun for destruction, its the intent that is dangerous. Lif always finds a way, and the recent attack in MYC and the near countless attacks in Europe, nearly anything can be used as a weapon. Where guns are impossible to obtain, an innocent day-to-day item becomes the next "hot topic" to be downsized. Are we all prepared to have mass transit the wave of the future because we must ban vehicles? Will we ban steel work and only have plastic kitchen ware? Will cleaning products be solicited by the government in prescription amounts to lower the risk of explosive manufacturing?
My honest opinion is, give up on this PC movement, and allow police and the FBI start profiling again. Allow them to conduct investigations based off suspicion. If X or Y is stocking a cache of ammo, weapons, army surplus, etc, they deserve a peek into their life. I also feel mental evaluation should be a mandatory test in the ability to graduate high school as well as collage. Men and women in the armed forces as well as first responders should have constant evaluation from multiple sources to keep a completely unbiased portfolio.

I don't think anyone needs to own an assault rifle. You're not going to hunt with it. It doesn't take a 150+ round mag to take down a deer. You also don't need it for home protection unless you get broken into by Seal Team 6.
So please, besides MERICA, and THEY BE TAKIN MA RIGTS AWAY.....I've never heard a logical explanation as to why people feel they need to own assualt rifles.
2nd Amendment doesn't cut it as explanation enough anymore, either. The Constitution and the 2nd Amendment were created at a time when the guns you had took 25 minutes to reload after one shot.
Does everyone need a rocket launcher? Personal nuclear bomb collection? How far are we going to take this.

How far are we going to take this. I agree that we can do away with large anmunition magazines. But, owning an assult rifle means nothing. Its like a Ford owner yelling at a Chevy owner. Make and modle mean nothing. Its the internal components and add on/mods. At the end of the day, semi-automatic is just a sweet way of saying it shoots as fast as you squeeze. If a RT trigger is added, a swith if filed, a drum is added, or a butt stock, then there is another argument of stop watching Commando! I can grasp the concept of the constitution so we can defend ourselves against our government, and there are people that have this dooms day vision of our government turning its Militaries on its people. But in all honesty about 3/4 would walk away fingers in the air. But, there are those gung-ho boys that want blood. Now you could say they will kill traitors, or any other movie script scenarios that would never happen, but, the other side of my brain says many things have happened this decade that were seemingly impossible years before Tougher gun laws are the way to go. Banning modd and having random firearms checks would be benificial. Almsot like a doctor check-up but for firearms. A mental evaluation by 3 foctors should also be a must!

Bring back public executions for offenses like these and I'm willing to bet there'll be a decrease in these unfortunate events.
This shooting happened about 30 miles from where I'm at.
Also, several died in NYC on a bike path after a truck hit them and the mayor called it an act of terror. What's next.. truck control?
