That's fine. The total number of guns is irrelevant. 10 people with pistols aren't as dangerous as one person with an AR-15. Take everyone in the USA with an AR-15 and tell them they have to trade it in for a pistol. Nobody is saying there can't be guns, nobody is trying to take anyone's guns away....I just think it's irresponsible to have citizens in possession of military style assault rifles. Australia still has a semi automatic weapons ban. So if they are stocking up on smaller arms, it's clearly not provided anyone with the capability to go on a massacre. So the issue there is clearly in check. How can you say nobody is trying to take anyone's guns away while you advocate for a semi-auto ban and confiscation/forced trade? You're still taking guns, regardless if it's a forced trade for a different firearm.

Not to mention there's another 155 other types of semi automatic rifles and we're not even getting into semi automatic handguns. Go try to take 1 AR-15 from 1 owner if you can find them because Im willing to bet a lot arent registered, and let me know how that turns out for you

As I've said... if it's not guns, it'll be a truck. Or knife. Or bomb. Bow and arrow.
Stop blaming the object and start looking at the people committing crimes. Look at mental health and stability. Look at child abuse and neglect. Take every single possible item into account about the persons life before immediately screaming gun laws and "it works there so it'll work here."
Criminals don't obey laws. Marijuana, cocaine etc are all illegal federally yet can still be bought on the streets with ease. Rape is illegal yet people still do it. Theft is illegal yet it's still done.
Quit blaming items and objects and start blaming people. I've never seen a gun pick itself up and shoot anyone. No one has. No matter the style of gun or how many bullets it can hold or shoot.

I know that but I meant how can you compare the gun situation in the US with the gun situation in Australia and assume what they did will work here when the situations are very different? The U.S. has way more guns than they did, has a much higher population and shares 2 large borders with other countries. Can you explain how these situations are comparable enough to suggest that what they implemented would be successful here? It is nice to know you openly support gun confiscation though. Not suggesting... I’m pointing out a law that works in the country shown above The only LOL here should be pointed at your “personal protection” Why do you suggest what works there will work here though? As for laughing at owning guns for personal protection in a society where lots of bad people have and use them much more frequently.... ok then. If you're going to blatantly ignore the countless stories of people using their firearms to repel bad people, then so be it. If you lived in my city where the drug problem is getting extremely bad and armed home intrusions are becoming much more frequent, I doubt you'd laugh at someone wanting to own a firearm for protection against the bad people who almost definitely have their own. Exactly “armed intrusion” I live in the uk, where gun laws are restricted but people could still by a gun and invade my home, but you just simply don’t get that on a percentage scale that you do and that’s because of “tighter gun laws” you can’t sit there and say no to these gun laws just because a “bad man” can walk in you home with the exact thing that you would be making more illegal to hold... there’s no logic there I understand that “now” you want a gun, if I lived in America currently I would want a gun to protect me but if the law was changed i guarantee you wouldn’t want or need it as I don’t need one in my country and people can still break into my house.

I think it’s about time you start looking at the object involved or guess what in a month or 2 there will be another mass “shooting” I thought america was a forward thinking country?? 🤔

I just don't like the argument that "it won't work so let's not try."
I don't pretend that I have all the answers because I don't. I have bought a gun legally, and fired it plenty of times. I ended up getting rid of it a few years ago.
In my personal opinion, tt can't be a random law. It would have to be a national law with heavy enforcement and stiff penalties. Yes, you won't get 100% of guns. Nobody thinks you will. But a mandatory buyback for any weapon that fires more than six shots is a great start. That is plenty of gun for self defense or hunting. Bans on any type of gun modifications being sold, or manufactured. Major prison time for being in possession of any gun that violates the law. Sure, some people are going to resist, and be upset. But they have my thoughts and prayers. Just because it won't eliminate all guns, or eliminate all gun crime or deaths, doesn't mean we shouldn't try to do so anyway.

It's funny because 99% of the time after these mass shootings, they say "and the weapon was purchased legally, the shooter passed all background checks.....". I'm sure there is a huge percentage of unregistered weapons, but it seems like the ones that are used in these mass shootings are always legal, always registered, were purchased cleanly.

What is the necessity to have specifically an assault rife or an assault style rifle? People can have guns. Have as many guns as you want. Have 200 pistols if you want. Why can't we all just agree to a lower caliber of weapon for the overall public safety? The bottom line is that if you want to shoot up my movie theater, you're not going to be able to carry all that sh*t with you.

So I assume you support a national healthcare that would cover people who need that treatment and make it accessible and free or affordable to them? Do you think it is going to be easier to cure mental illness than it will be to lower gun violence with gun control or bans? Should we make rape legal since people do it anyway?

You brought that into the discussion, and all I am doing is using your same logic and train of thought. I'll quote you as often as I feel like as I am not violating the TOS by doing so, or fighting, or name calling. If you can't defend your own ideas and thoughts, then maybe they aren't that defensible.

I wonder, where were all these gun control chest thumpers when Seung-Hui Cho shot up and killed 32 people at Va Tech? You know, the mass shooting that was at one time the most deadly in US history??? Were you thumping your chest for gun bans then?
Oh yea btw, he never used a semi automatic weapon...He used 2 handguns. 32 people...2 handguns....more proof that banning a semi automatic rifle wont stop mass shootings.

Honestly, I would prefer a complete gun ban. But I recognize that compromise might need to be made by both sides initially.

Ive not mentioned the rest of Europe The UK has stricter gun laws than the rest of Europe look don't don't change your gun laws, and when its your family (maybe mom, dad or siblings) or even close friends that get caught up in your mass shootings make sure to keep focusing on mentally ill peope see how that works, because its working great so far Mass shootings happen in the U.K.too, buddy. And throwing the possibility of my family being victims of a shooting show that you're a true piece of sh*t.
