Wouldnt anti-trust laws stop that from happening? You would think, but the way things are going in the world, everything will either be owned by Disney or Google in a few years. Sucks for everything, so few companies and so few competition and variety.

I hope not. Hasbro Marvel Legends crap all over WWE figures right now.

This has been a headline every year for the last five years. I don’t think it will happen but I wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually does happen. We live in a world where Disney is trying to buy up all of the movie space, I’m not sure why a similar situation with toys is far-fetched.
Also, Marvel Legends are the best mass produced Action Figure line at the $20 pp by a country mile. It’s not even close. NECA still makes the best figures at that price but they’re obviously a niche. Mattel’s WWE line is the best they have to offer and we’re seeing the WWE figures bogged down by budget restraints. We lost MOTU, Ghostbusters, Thundercats, Mattel’s arrow isn’t pointed up...

I'd be surprised if this went through. But be careful what you wish for. If you think Hasbro is looking to make a multi-billion dollar acquisition to increase toy quality, you may be very disappointed. Competition is a good thing for consumers.
With toys it's virtually impossible to really compare lines, even if they are at the same price point. Licensing costs can be portion of the overall cost, and the cost of licensing can have a huuuuuuge range depending on the property. What NECA pays to license Predator vs what Mattel pays in licensing for WWE isn't even in the same ballpark.

I can't recall what brands Hasbro has rights to. I never really like their stuff. I was less than thrilled when WWE went with Mattel but I love it now! I'm a Barbie fan so having two major toy lines in one company is cool. Though, as a 90s baby, I miss Kenner, Galoob and BanDai. Yeah I know BanDai is still around but their products are less than pleasing. I loved those little Kenner ad books they used to put in the boxed stuff, like Star Wars vehicles. . HECK YEAH! I was a little guy when Kenner had the rights to Batman, but man I remember them fondly. Kenner will always be my favorite toy company of all time. I still love to grab a MOC Kenner product at flea markets. Those little booklets are the coolest. Especially when they have the mail in offers, good until December 1990 haha (a mere couple months before I was born.) TheLastDude, ugh it looks like Hasbro doesn't have much that interests me. Beyblade? They still make Beyblade?!?! I still have my favorites but you're talking like 2002-2004! I remember those being a hit when I was in fourth and fifth grade. It's sad they were able to snag Kenner and Galoob

I still hold grudges against Hasbro for dumming down their TF movie lines. The ROTF toys were awesome, you almost needed a college degree to transform them. Too many parents complained and Hasbro dumbed them down. They have been nosediving more and more ever since.

Maybe Hasbro will push retro with Mattel and give us not only more Hasbro's but i ject Galoob WCW figures i to the line.

Lots of people stating this is happens every year.....previously it was normally the other way around.
Mattel share market value had more than halved this year. It was bigger than Hasbro, now Hasbro is valued twice is much as Mattel!! Perfect time for a hostile takeover!

Mattel is just floating on Barbie, WWE, hot wheels, and a very crappy DC line. Not bad brands to have but hasbro is def killing them in sales and everything else.

Competion is a good thing. That merger would bring on some major complacency in my opinion.

Maybe that’s why they made the retro Hasbro stylized wrestling figures 🤔

If Hasbro does take over Mattel, they could make some major money getting the DC line to scale with Marvel Legends. However with WWE, they could leave it or change it. Either way Hasbro has been improving their figures and don't get enough credit. Their facescan are a lot better than Mattels.

I would just want Hasbro to take control of DC I already collect the marvel legends and just wish there was a viable counterpart for fully articulate DC figures they would kill it IMO
