My sentiments exactly, but I think the only way it would sell is if he was put in a Battle Pack with Bret Hart. Id rather a battle pack with Dark Patriot (doug somers) damn I miss the good days I though Dark Patriot was Doug Gilbert.

It's pretty much true though, ask Bruce Prichard. Though it wasn't necessarily Wilkes' fault (injuries, poor positioning, etc.) I'd totally buy one though. At no point does he say he stalled anyone’s momentum or was in a position he didn’t deserve. He says he’s a great guy, a great worker and should have been huge. As the for original comment, the USA vs Canada Angle was huge and he fit in perfectly fine as a stopgap feud between Hart v Michaels. Didn’t hurt business or ratings in any way. I could be mistaken but I think from the Bret episode the other day he said he agreed that character-wise it was a step-down feud for Bret and that his momentum came to a halt. Either way I'd still buy his figure!

Yup. Since Mattel has knocked a few of my major wants out, Patriot is probably in my top 10-15.

Loved that BCA figure as well. It would have to come with a flag, right? RIGHT?!

Del Wilkes is selling this on his website for $110. Does anybody know if this is a custom? He never had a Hasbro or a Mattel Retro

It is a shame that Wilkes was injured from the off during his WWF run. A fully fit and less drug dependent Patriot would have worked great with 1997 Bret, but by that point he was already broken down. It was just odd how Bret as WWF Champion was shuffled down the card for this feud with the Ground Zero and Badd Blood (Bret and Bulldog Vs Patriot and Vader in the non flag tag match) matches, but when faced with the amazing Shawn Vs Undertaker chemistry who can blame them? But a Patriot figure? Yes please. And I think Mattel would do it justice.

I don’t see it shuffling Bret down the card it was a huge storyline and it had title implications anyway.

Completely agree with you there @campcornette . It made total sense, doubly so given that by that time it seemed like Vince wanted rid of the Hitman. But to go from Hell in a Cell and Kane's debut to a Flag Match on last would have been insanity.
I have a soft spot for The Patriot, search out his Stone Cold Podcast appearance from a year or two ago. He is extremely lucky to have not been a wrestler drug death.

Bret getting shuffled down the card had nothing to do with The Patriot and EVERYTHING to do with Shawn Michaels.

I would buy The Patriot in a heartbeat. He is one of my top 10 FB wants for some years now.
