If moneys tight then collecting figures shouldn't really be a priority.

That's sounds pretty unhealthy.
No I've never felt like that. I only buy the figures that appeal to me as opposed to having to buy every figure in every set. You really shouldn't be letting it consume you like that. Toys are supposed to be fun, not stressful. So when it stops being fun and turns into an unhealthy obsession/addiction that's consuming you then it's probably time to take a step back and get your priorities in order.

Collecting should never ever be stressful. It should be a hobby to enjoy, but not an obsession or addiction. With that being said, I’m obsessed with Championship Title Belts, and I have an addiction to collecting the “gold and leather” I want. Sometimes I take a step back, look at what I have, and think, “Maybe I’m going too far.” Then I log on to WrestlingFigs, and take solace in seeing that there are far crazier collections than mine. Just try to create a limit for yourself.

Buy the figures that you like the most, never put collecting figures as your top priority if money is tight for you, there will be opportunities to buy figures in the future and keep in mind it's a hobby for you and hobbies are meant to be enjoyed, not to stress you out and make you worry. Best of luck with collecting!

Wrestling figs never got me like that, exactly, but I too share the OCD, so I know the feeling well. Write a list of all the figures that you want, update it, but store it away and buy very little; know that you will have them in the future. This helped me with my cd obsession. Good luck.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I know that figure collecting should NEVER become a top priority. I don’t let it either. I just try to look at it as a hobby. I didn’t mean for it to sound worse than it sounds either.

That's not OCD, that's a quirk at best, if you couldn't go to bed every night unless you flicked the light switch on and off 72 times beforehand you might be onto something. To be blunt, it seems like you are making an excuse because you said you're tight on money you don't want to miss out on a figure and have to pay a premium price for it later, or don't want to wait until it's on sale like a yearly Black Friday Ringside sale where you can get figures for close to $10 that may be a few months to a year old.
A little tough love here, but just buy what you like and know that no one here cares about what you have, they may like seeing collection photos, but no one will care if you do or don't have a figure based upon past experience. No one is going to walk into your house and give you grief because you're missing a Shawn Michaels figure either.

I can relate.
I had zero point zero interest in buying 2k18 but I HAD to buy it because it bothered me to no end seeing WWE '12, 13, 2K14, 15, 16 and 17 on my shelf but not 18. It would stress me out. I couldn't really afford the game at time either so that didn't help. When I first started working, I was spending most of my money on figures that I thought I needed for my collection.
There was always a fear in the back of my mind that would tell me, "If you don't buy this figure now, you'll never see it again at that price!" so I would buy numerous figures with little to no money afterwards. It sucked, it really did but once I realized that collecting was making me miserable, I took a step back and observed the situation. That's when I realized that I had a problem. Your post got many great responses and I would suggest that you listen to them.
Set a limit for yourself (Buy only AJ Styles figures or whoever, you get the idea) and ALWAYS ask yourself, "Do I really need this figure/game/etc?" and that will help you out. Remind yourself that it's a hobby and that it should bring you joy, not sorrow. I know that question helped get me in check.
Good luck to you, du.

I had the same issue with the video games, but ultimately decided to get them a year after they are released. This would cut the cost in half, making it a $30 game, or if I'm really patient, I would wait a little longer, and get the game for $20. Of course I end up paying close to $60 anyway, because of the DLCs, but whatever.

But I had to have it at the time. I could have bought the Deluxe version of the game altogether but the gold '18' on the spine of the game really bothered me since the rest of the WWE games on my shelf didn't have gold numbers. I'm VERY selective when it comes to buying video games now.

I didn’t mean for it to sound worse than it sounds either. I understand that because it's your hobby of choice that it can be frustrating not being able to buy every figure that you want but there will be opportunities in the future to pick up the figures that you miss. Remember also that not every collector is going to have every figure that they want, I collect retro games and I am fully aware that I won't own every game or console so I pick the ones I like the most because at the end of the day it's only a hobby and I want to get maximum enjoyment out of it:)

If you are stressed out from figure collecting, just wait until you have to deal with mortgages, retirement plans, and insurances. If that's your biggest worry, consider yourself blessed.

Well to be fair I do have a number of problems of that liking. Getting screwed over with banks, loans, and trying to build a new home while waiting for an appraisal that always fails has pissed me off and has me more stressed out WAY more than figure collecting ever has. That’s why I’m trying to drift off from it. Collecting is a minor stress, I guess I should’ve put more emphasis on that.

I hate to beat the drum and echo what a lot of others have already said, but if your "completionist" collecting ways has you stressed out or overwhelmed, wait until you've been evicted from your home for the first time, come up late on a major payment and wind up ed for years down the road, end up in a perpetual hunt for a job or something else your life needs you to do in order to survive, etc. etc.... Hell--you will get to a point where paying a vet fee to make sure your goddamn little chow, cat, dog, whatever gets its shots becomes a burden. I'm in a home where we split a pretty decent pension right now, and there's just the 2 of us, and we are still struggling. Happy sails with completing those collections, regardless...

If moneys tight then collecting figures shouldn't really be a priority. You leave your goddamn logic out of this thread!!!!! I swear every time I see the word "overwhelming" on a figure board I cant help but to read it in a whiny voice. Id love to collect old muscle cars but ya know what, I cant afford them so I dont. If you cant afford something...dont break your bank trying to. Priorities are objecto numero uno for adults!

It seems like other people are blowing this out of proportion more than me. For example, I mean overwhelmed as the feeling you get when you can’t finish whatever you’re eating. “Oh boy my eyes were bigger than my stomach, how could I finish this” That kind of overwhelming. Not “oh no I can’t pay off these credit cards, I can’t pay the rent, I can’t pay my mortgage this month, my student loan debt is way to high. What will I ever do? I’m panicking! Should I put a gun to my skull and end it?” Of course the last example is how people see me. I have a family, and many other important aspects that I pay far more attention to in life. I kinda thought that this would be a little discussion that would be inactive in a few days with a few simple answers, but hey, it’s a wrestling forum on the internet. Oh well.
