Wrestling legend Rob Van Dam says a concussion he suffered while in the ring left him with an injury that now disqualifies him from working with the WWE, and claims to have taken a major financial hit from the loss of income. He says that on November 12, 2016 he suffered a concussion that “caused visual impairment” and has “disqualified me from working for the WWE.”
What a damn shame. Never got the proper send off he deserved.

I’m sorry to hear this. Hopefully RVD gets some more movie roles. His performances in his two DVD movies are pretty good. It’d be nice if he finally had a film showdown with Jean-Claude Van Damme.
He should certainly be inducted into the WWE hall of fame.
Some say they resented his push in TNA, or the idea that he was brought there to be a “golden ticket.” However, I loved his TNA stint. He was treated as a big deal.
WWE dropped the ball with his final run there. He could have had some world title programs, especially since the promotion was bereft of star characters at the time.
RVD was a great character just being himself.

Terrible. Sucks that WWE did so little with him during his stints. Sure, he slowed down compared to his peak, but he still could go.
Hopefully they bring him on as either a trainer or an agent.

Sad to hear. One great talent. This might be more of a series of concussions problem, and the last one made the dam break. Hopefully they can figure out how to treat these symptoms in the near future.

He would always do those headstand bumps out of DDT’s, too! Though, that probably didn’t cause this problem.

I personally hope WWE signs him to a fat legends deal one day so we get some merch, figures, DVD commentaries and so on from him. Hell, give him his own show on the Network. Just have him talk about ECW or something.

His kicks were the best, and he never even used leg slaps for them.

Sucks that he won't be able to wrestle for the WWE again,RVD was always one of my favorites and when he debut in '01 became white hot by the fall and the WWE drop the ball on turn him into a massive star and instead basically treated him as a mid card talent.
On the other hand he say the WWE won't let him wrestle but he didn't state that he's retired or that other promotions wont let him wrestle so at least he can hopefully have sometype of nice retirement send off maybe in ROH or something.I think having a run or even a one off match in ROH and having a retirement match against Will Ospeary would be kind of a fitting way to go out.

Impact could be good for RVD again, too. Eli Drake put on a very good match with John Morrison. Eli-RVD would be over with a live crowd.

That's a damn shame. Always liked RVD. Very nice guy in person too.

That's a damn shame. Always liked RVD. Very nice guy in person too. He honestly is one of the good guys of the business. Always happy to do stuff for the fans. I wish he and Sabu didn't mess up his title run. RVD is probably my favorite wrestler of all time.

Obviously I'm a huge fan of his and I have great memories of watching him for so long. I didn't expect another big WWE run but was hoping for maybe a surprise match at the Raw 25th anniversary show. I love that he's at in 2K18 and I'm hoping that elite from the leaked lineups is still coming, he seems to still be on good terms with WWE even if he can't wrestle there anymore.

That's a shame to hear. Odd that he waited so long to disclose this. He's mentioned returning several times, but never anything about this.

Damn shame he can't be in WWE anymore, I always liked the way he sold the RKO, DDT, Twist of Fate etc. way better seller than Ziggler.

He said that WWE isn't going to re-sign his merchandise deal either, which I thought was the strangest part of the story.

RVD has always been one of my favorites, so it really sucks to hear this. The guy was quite possibly the most durable wrestler of all time considering the longevity of his career and the style he wrestled. WWE never used him to his full potential. When he came over in 2001 he was the most over guy in the company, but the only time he ever got a Heavyweight Title run was because Vince wanted to promote the return of ECW as the third brand. Nevertheless, his ONS 2006 win against Cena is still one of my favorite wrestling moments ever.
To be honest, I doubt he would've wanted to go back to the WWE anyway. His last run was so disappointing and you could tell he just wasn't into being there anymore by the end. Would be nice if the company eventually were to offer him a job down at the Performance Center, but he was never a favorite of Vince or Triple H's.

the absolute best wrestling athlete of the 90s. his sky was the limit but unfortunately he was before his time both in the ring and with his habits outside. still think it was amazing how he took so much time out of his career for his wife with cancer. a real hero. rvd 420 forever
