Genuinely haven't even heard of any of these movies. Jikes. I know who Kevin Smith is, thought he was more... Important? If you've genuinely never heard of Clerks or Mallrats or even Jay and Silent Bob, I would say either you're genuinely lying or have been living under a rock for 25 years. I have watched 2 movies this year. The only shows I've ever seen are Simpsons, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and Gotham. I don't watch TV. Or movies. I haven't been to a movie theatre in almost 14 years now.

Yeah the last two were complete trash...but still. Clerks? Come on man!

Chasing Amy. It's his best film. Smith gets a lot of criticism for basically having normal vanilla shots of two people saying witty "realistic" dialog that he often times got asked "Do you sit around writing down conversations you and your friends have?". Mallrats showed Smith at his raunchiest, but Amy showed Smith didn't have to go low brow to tell a good story. The ending is often times misunderstood but i can see why. It's not as quotable as his other films, but overall it was Smith at his best. As far directing goes, he is no Melville or Godard, but he doesn't have to be. I'll take two people talking in a room over any cgi fest.

Chasing Amy. Everything before Zac & Miri is really good, but with everything after being just okay to good.
Tusk and Red State were both interesting. Everything else I watched once and have no desire to watch again.

Went with Mallrats. Clerks was good, but since I was a teenager in the mid-90's Mallrats appealed to me more, I feel if you were a teenager in the early 90's Clerks appeals to you more. For me, everything following Jay & Silent Bob has been on a steady decline with Yoga Hosers being the absolute worse thing.

Mallrats definetely defined a generation of kids, as most likely many of us were mallrats. I spent many an hour toiling around aimlessly in my mall; it was like a home away from home.

The whole View Askewuniverse is just great.
I remember watching Dogma when it first came out, and I was like 11 or 12? I didn't really GET a lot of the more intricate, religious based jokes, or even some of the more raunchy adult ones... but I watched it again a few years back as an adult and HOLY HELL Kevin Smith is so damn WITTY and hilarious.

Also tusk is like Napoleon dynamite, you have to watch it like 3 times to appreciate it.
Also listening to the episode of smod where they come up with the idea helps

Jay and Silent Bob.
Luke Skywalker as Cock Knocker and bong light sabers.
I think I just filled the cup.
